C Section Recovery
Ok Ladies. How long did it take after your CS until you felt your "normal" self, if ever?????
Did you recover properly and were you able to use your stomach muscles again without feeling twinges!!!
I am a volunteer FF and am looking at doing light training after the dr has cleared me, and responding to calls as an extra person (only doing light tasks) and possible going back to full Fire Fighting in the New Year.
I was never prepared for the possibility of a CS, so my plans for this year and start of next year have had to change and I am interested in other people's experiences with CS.
Thanks :hello:

Within 4 weeks I felt back to normal. I drove (not supposed to I know but I had no choice) and felt a couple of twinges then but I was right as rain after the 6 weeks mark. I have a similarly demanding occupation and I feel as able as I ever was.

I think it was about 6 weeks before I was feeling back to my normal self. But having said that it was aout 3-4 months before I could do the vaccuuming or anything strenuous like that without having pain in my scar when I finished. Doing the job was fine, but afterwards it was painful.

I second Sarah's opinion,,,,as i didnt feel too good until the 6 weeks mark,,,,
But even after 4 years, if i do too much lifting/bending etc now, my tummy gets very sore, and tires out easily (however I do have a hernia in my belly button as well, so that might have something to do with the soreness.)
i am in for another caesarean in mid feb, but am going to try and get the hernia repaired at the same time,,,as well as tubes tied. Kinda like a "while you are under the bonnet, woud you mind giving me the works? lmao)

Within a couple of weeks I was just about myself(able enough to have sex!LOL) As for my tummy muscles, well I got pregnant again when Gem was 4 months old and for memory my tummy felt fine.I was exercising reguarly by then with no probs.

Thanks ladies. I may just have to play it by ear. Just when i think i'm feeling good i over stretch a muscle.
Good luckKirsty. 2 days to go. Exciting!!! All the best!!!

I was feeling pretty much normal within 2 weeks. I think that it was because DD was in special care nursery and I HAD to get up and moving sooner. I left hospital before DD did and had to run back and forth from home to hospital for 10 days.. I think that because I had no choice and had mind occupied on other things (ie. DD birth defect and getting her home) it really helped with my recovery... hope though that next time I dont have to be so rushed!! :)

Heya Beck,
After Jacob's birth, which was an emergency c/s, it took ages before I felt better. I think it was the fact that my body had gone through labour (which really takes it out of you!) as well as having major surgery IYKWIM? It felt like forever before I could do anything without pain......
This time around has been much better and I honestly attribute it to the fact that my body didn't have the physical exhaustion of labour as well as the surgery...

Ditto to what Melinda has said!! I also laboured with Gem for 23 hours then had an emerg c/s. This time round its been so much easier!! I swear that after I had the staples out on day 6 I went shopping. I felt like a million bucks!
