unsure if positive HPT
Hello
I am asking this question for a friend who did a HPT today and there was a very very very faint line (along with the test line) - it was so faint that she had to squint to see it, but nonetheless it was there. If she was pregnant she would probably only be 14 DPO - do you think she is pregnant? I said I would ask you guys what you thought.
Thanks

Well, they do say a line is a line! I would think it's likely that she's pg, but really she just needs to test again tomorrow or in a couple of days. Until she gets a darker line anyway (or af arrives....).

I would say that there is a very strong chance - there may be a late implant or an early m/c
Hope it is whatever she wants

Id say if there is a line..and its coloured and has been read in the time frame allowed that she is pregnant..best thing to do like the girls have already said is to do another test in the next couple of days. Goodluck for your friend.

Thanks everyone - i will let her know wat you think.
Loula - excuse my ignorance (lol) but what did you mean by late m/c.

m/c stands for miscarriage
Or late implant
I had a very faint HPT but had early m/c

I had the same thing happen to me, very faint second line, so tested again the following morning the first time I went to the toilet and the line came up VERY prominent then!
As the other's have said, I hope it turns out whichever way she wants it.

Hope you dont mind me asking this - did you have a m/c and not realise it and when you did the HPT there was still pregnancy hormone in your body which registered the positive result?

I have been on IVF for 3.5 years so i know when there maybe a chance of pg, but i guess that could happen then i guess it is called a missed m/c
Looking at your thread to a 'text book style cycle' 14 dpo would really only mean the day your period is due so your friend may be testing too early test again in a few days and im sure the line will be darker

Thanks Lou.
Good luck with your IVF.

Did she use FMU - As the others have recommended I'd advice her to test again, definately using her FMU (first morning urine). Hope it all works out. xo
