I take the dummy away from my kids when they're about a yr old. That being said, none of them have ever put up that big of a fight. They've been kind of ready I think :)
Both my boys gave their up at their own free will. Kameron at 8mths and Lachlan at 5mths.

Kathryn - did they just spit the dummy out and refuse to put it in??
Jacob popped his in the bin (as he does with a lot of things grrrr) and that was it.
Hi
All new to this, and I have a dummy monster I would love to know how to get rid of it any ideas she is 5mo and will not go to sleep with out it.
Boo HOo:crying:
We only really had dummies for sleeping towrds the end anyway, but just before her first birthday we just got rid of them all, and that was that.
I think just do it, probably the younger the better habit wise, but in saying that, if your child loves a dummy..... sometimes its easier just to let them have it!
I think i am going to try to take the dummy away when Joshua is about 1 year old
Lily is 2 in a couple of weeks and she still has her dummy but only really when she is being shy with strangers and when she's cranky. She gave it up during the day at around 18mths and for sleeping about a week ago.
