2nd degree tear

I ended up with a 2nd degree tear after i had a vac extraction. I heard the dr say push, but never heard the 'stop pushing' bit and my girl canon bolted out with the dr only just catching her!

He told me it was all external and sutured. Not sure how many stitches i ended up with.

How long does it normally take to recover and before sex can be on the menu again?? LOL

Kim - it will take a bit of time. Your dr will take a look at your 6w checkup, and tell you how it is looking, and after that you might want to start some massage to get the area a bit softer.
I'll be honest and say the first few times sex ended in tears for us. BUt if you dont try, you can't win ;)
I had a smear done at my 3w checkup, and it hurt, but the dr said if I could handle the whooseywhatsit up there, I was doing pretty well recovery wise.

Yeah I'd give it a bit of time Kim. See how you feel, you will know when you start to feel a bit more comfy downstairs.

It took us a lot longer to get going again (I had a nasty multiple tear that headed off in a few different directions at once) but after a few months went to the drs and she gave me these oestrogen pills (to pop in there) which made things a lot more comfortable. Apparently if you're breastfeeding it keeps your oestrogen levels low and so the tissue can end up thinner and painful. So if you have problems don't delay, see your doctor as they do have things that can help!!

I had a 2nd degree tear and we have still not DTD (nearly 5 months later). We have tried. My OB told me at my 6 week check up that things were looking a bit tight down there. Just the way the scar tissue healed I guess. Unlucky me. :sad:

I've decided I'm going to have to see him again to be re-cut and re-stitched unfortunately.

I had 3rd degree tearing and we were able to dtd (Was very cautious and slow) not long after the 3 month mark. Other Mum's I know said dtd was uncomfortable 9-12 months after.
