What do you do
after you get bitten by an insect?
I usually spray it with alcohol and that does it.Except this time, I have a rash on my arm that is the size of my palm right around my arm.
Have tried Aloe Vera, Cortisone creams, Bactroban ointment,Savlon etc... nothing seems to be working! Any suggestions on how to stop the itch?
-
Try vinegar, that always seems to help for bites.
-
Aren't you supposed to wee on it! Or is that just jellyfish?!
-
LOL Rachel, i think its just for jellyfish/blue bottles that u pee on it.....but hey..it might work!
-
Ha ha - how would you manage to pee on your own arm? You'd need to be pretty flexible if it was higher up than your forearm.
What about calamine lotion? Very pink and powdery, but it works for me. Maybe a cold compress too?
Wonder what bit you?
-
I have no idea..I've just taken a photo of it! My dad reckons it is a white tail bite, and the doc says it could be as well. Unfortunately they can't say without seeing what bit me.
If you look at my home page you can see my bite.
-
Could it be a plant rash?
Doesn't look like the white tail spider bite my dad had if that's any relief.
Calamine lotion? Or a paste of bi-carb soda is good.
-
Not sure Kar, but the doc is treating it as an insect type bite.
-
Well we think we have figured it out...My aunt has shingles(been diagnosed today!) same type of symptons but hers are on her eye and in her ear.
-
Yeh its not a bite. Normally if something is itching me I grab some pinetasol or whatever it is called.
Works wonders on any sort of rash.
Or this stuff I brought in the chemist called Soov

Jess
If it is shingles - then my memory is that it will feel like a cross between pins and needles, a deep bone ache in the bones under the rash, and what you imagine a spider bite feels like - all rolled into one.
I got shingles in my left buttock and then running around my left hip and down the front of my left leg after bushwalking. Before I was diagnosed with shingles I was sure I'd been bitten by a spider. It felt so weird.
-
Did you ever find out what it was Jess? It didn't sound like shingles... they usually run along nerves and have pain like Kar described... awful apparently.
-
Jess, try dissolving disprin in abit of water, and using that. Mum treated all of us when we where kids with chicken pox, and it worked wonders. got rid of the itch, and treated the spots.
ETA - just realised how old the Original Post was...

LOL I was digging around in the old threads looking for something else... and I got curious... but there's some good tips here anyway! :)
