heat rash looks like?
Hiya,
Just wondering what heat rash looks like? Caty gets tiny red spots around her neck and ears....
And she had some tiny bubbles on her ear lobe for a few days - I'm guessing they weren't heat related but what could they be? I don't think they were pimples - you wouldn't get them on your ears would you?
Thanks.

Hello, heat rash usually occurs around the neck and chest and face. It is a reddening of the skin, uniform in colour and not spotty. There isn't usually any raised/bubbling bits and it isn't painful or itchy or irritating. It will resolve in a short period of time on its own once you cool down. What you describe doesn't sound like heat rash but if it concerns you and it is bothering your child maybe you should take them to your GP just to make sure everything is ok. HTH.

oh, and resist the urge to pick at the spots once they appear!
Xander got it pretty bad (milk spots that is) - but they went away after about a month. Tho he still gets a little spotty from time to time.

I'd say milk spots too Cat...and you can get the little pimpley things anywhere on the skin, so unless Caty doesn't have skin on her ears...:P Could be that the heat contributes as well, the pores on her face being more open and maybe she's sweating a little too.

Jesse had the milk rash all over his face from about 3 weeks until about 7 weeks old.. just looked like he was going through puberty and was covered in little white head pimples.
To me what yours describing sounds like pr1ckly heat.. just a form of heat rash. And it is spotty. If you search it on the net youll find it is: Tiny red spots, which usually appear on areas of the body where sweat collects, such as the armpits, back, under the breasts, chest, groin, crooks of elbows and knees, and the waist.
In babies pr1ckly heat usually starts around the neck. If it is bad, it can spread down onto the chest and back and up around the ears and face, but it seldom bothers a baby.
Jesse has, at the moment, tiny little red spots around the back of his neck and head too and it is just a heat rash as where he has it is the places he always sweats.

Ah that's all good to know. Looks like it's milk rash with a dash of pr1ckly heat. (hehehe, first time the pr1ckly bit was ****'ed out!)

Charlie gets bad heat rash because he's so big - it is normally tiny little pin ***** red marks on his tummy shoulders, neck and ears - sometimes he scratches at his ears but the rest doesn't seem to bother him - was scary at first though!
