Could someone please give me a how-to guide? Mum made me a couple of soakers for Natalie. I've no idea of where to start...
What soap do I wash them with?
Do I need to hand-wash?
How many times do I wash before they are ready to use?
Can you hang them up to dry, or do they need to dry flat (like jumpers)?
How and when do you 'lanolise' them? (I've heard you can use lansinoh dissolved in water... is that right?)

Can help you with some of this but not all. For the rest I reckon Shannon is your woman....
A pea sized bit of lansinoh in the bottom of a bucket or sink dissolved in some hot water. Then add cool water to bring the temp to luke warm. (You don't want to shock the wool with water that is either too hot or too cold).:

Bung your soakers in for at least 15 mins or leave them overnight.
remove, and gently squeeze out water. Roll up in a towel to remove excess water then dry flat.
Beware 'shocking' your water....I did it yesterday and all my lanolin turned white and stuck to the sides of my bucket so I started again but didn't wipe my bucket down and now my BBH wool covers have sticky clumps of white paste (lanolin I presume?) on them!
I followed the BSL advice and put like, a tea spoon of lansinoh in. Maybe that's where I went wrong also?

You would need to lanolise them after you wash them but you only need to wash every couple of weeks unless they are funky.

BTW: I failed Chemistry in high school ;) Just wash when it smells like wee. Got it :D
