Hi. I am needing to get a Nanny for Sammy for possibly just one day a week. Can anyone tell me what is the going rate for a Nanny. I have someone in mind but dont want to offend by offering too much or underpaying KWIM. Thanks

I got this off the Australian Nanny and Au Pair Connection
WAGES
Live In
Au pair - $150.00 - $250.00 net
Mother's help - $300.00 - $450.00 net
Nanny - $350.00 - $900.00 net
Live Out - $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Hope that helps
Through an agency I was on around $15 an hour. They charged a little higher because they also took out a percent for the agency
Another family I work privately for I got $16.50 an hour and that was taxed through their business
Yet another family paid me cash in hand and i think that was $14 an hour
It also depends on how many kids, whether house work is involved etc
Thanks guys sounds great.

I worked as a pro-nany for a number of years and as a live out, day help nanny who does some kid related housework such as cleaning up the kitchen, loading/unloading the dishwasher, a few loads of laundry here or there I got from 10 to 17 cash in hand depending on the number of kids. The only reason I went for a 'proper' taxed job was my employers couldn't afford to pay me a taxed wage and all the super, etc that goes along with it, so I worked up my maternity leave rights as a preschool teacher and now I'm on early maternity leave.
Just wondering whether anyone has had any experience with a shared nanny ie finding someone similar in your neighbourhood with a child that needs a nanny and sharing the cost?
