So after all the signs i had through the week, it turns out i am not pregnant :( But i am still tsaying positive and know that it will happen when it is supposed to. But now we have been trying for 14 months so i think we are ready to go see the dr and find out whats happenening. So can anyone tell me, what exactly will happen? Im guessing they will do some blood tests or something like that and want to check hubbys swimmers? Thanks guys

Sorry to hear no BFP! But staying positive helps, I know it can be hard.
I went to the GP first and she did Blood tests then and then one on day 21 so it pays to know your cycle day, I asked for a referral to a FS. DH went to his GP and had a swimmer check.
After waiting 4 months to get in, I went to my FS and she sent me for more BTs and she mentioned HSG test and internal ultrasound so I asked her how soon can I have those done? My thinking was why wait til next visit in a month if I can get it all done now, so i had those tests also. And DH had BTs also. We are both fine and now we went back so she could share the results and discuss options and now I have been referred to a fertility clinic to start IVF or IUI. But I was talking to a girlfriend in Vic and things are done different there than here so hope this helps a little, but the best thing for you is write down all your questions and ask ANYTHING to them you want. Sorry to hear that you're not pregnant...hang in there!
I think it's great you are going to see a doctor...
Generally they will do a few things...
They'll take your (and DH's) medical history (including your menstrual history), probably refer you for a whole lot of blood tests, DH will have a semen analysis (poor guy...my DH had to do that!) and you may need to eventually have some more internal explorations (e.g. internal ultrasounds just to check what your uterus is looking like, HSG to see if your tubes aren't blocked)
I went to about 4 gyn. until I found one who really helped. The guy that really helped was a Fertility Specialist (as well as a gyn. and ob.)...so maybe consider going to a fertility specialist at some stage...
Also...don't be scared to be insistent...I think we were too passive initially and just accepted the "just wait and see" line from a few of the doctors, without pushing the need for further testing...it wasn't until about 2.5 years, that we finally saw the Fertility Specialist who finally did all the testing we needed...
The other thing I did was start seriously charting...this really helped! Though often Doctor's aren't too thrilled about it, as some of them think it may cause more stress...

I agree with the girls above. Also when I started looking into why it wasn't happening here I started to get more excited that I was getting closer to getting pregnant. Goodluck and I hope you guys get pregnant soon. Its good to be pro-active and stay positive always, keep us posted on your appointment.

Ok so we went to see the dr today. She is sending me for blood tests on day 21 of my cycle and she also wants to have dh sperm tested. He really doesnt want to do this. Is it just him, or is this a male thing? If those tests come back clear, then she will refer me to a feritility specialist and i will get an ultrasound done. But she said it is most likely timing because we already have a 6 year old daughter :)

Yeah...can't say that my DH was thrilled about the sperm test...it must be pretty embarrassing for them, hey?
He said once it was all over, it was okay...basically he had to go into a room, with some "literature" provided, do his thing and then leave the sample in the room...
It sounds like you are on the path of finding out what's going on...all our tests came back clear, but it was reassuring to know that things were being checked out and then eliminated as possible reasons...

Thanks Monnie, yeah he definately doesnt want to do it. How do i bribe him, lol. He just thinks we will fall preg soon enough. At least for his spermt count, we are able to do it at home. Dr gave us the little cup and we just have to ring the pathology the day we want to take it in, and as soon as it has been collected at home, we take it straight there. So at least we do have that comfort of doing it here, and that way i can help him :)
How long did it take you to fall preg Monnie?
Dr also said that i am putting too much pressure on us and thinking about it too much. But how do i stop thinking about it and put my mind on something else. Ive tried all the hobbies in the world, they dont work, lol.

It took me a long time to fall pregnant...3 years!
BUT...we only went to the Fertility Specialist in the last 3 months...so I got my first BFP after 3 months with the FS...was on my first cycle of clomid...SO wish we were more proactive and went to him earlier...
Problem was...I went to about 4 doctors prior to this one (none were FS) and they all assured me, we were okay! Obviously things weren't quite right though!
I'm sure your journey won't be as long...I think it's great that you are seeking out answers earlier...and that you found the BB site...I only found it after 2.5 years of trying, and just found it to be such a Godsend...
Your poor DH...maybe have some reward for him for his "good work"...nice bottle of wine, carton of beer...something to sweeten the sting!!!

What exactly does the clomid do?
Im glad i found this site too. It has been so helpful and there are so many wonderful people here who are always willing to help you :) And its great because everyone else knows exactly how i am feeling on here :)

Its good to be pro-active. We did the whole specialist thing with QFG. IUI was great and I took clomid, gonal-f and profasi. ALL worth it in the end!!

I believe Clomid forces your ovaries to release an egg. I'm not sure though as I'm not on Clomid but have just read it on this site in the past. So I'm assuming that you will only be put on Clomid if you're not ovulating properly.
Everyone - please fell free to correct me if I'm wrong....
I've also read that for people who are ovulating but its still not happening the clomid works as a sort of turbo boost for the hormones! I had a friend who was on clomid even though she was working efficiently, but her DH had a low sperm count. I guess it's like a booster shot for everything!
