Bilary Colic
I had a case of this on the w/end (think gallbladder attack) and was told by A&E that it could either be caused by my gallbladder or be a "side effect" of my recent pregnancy/birth. Has anyone suffered this as a result of being pregnant or shortly after giving birth? If so, what did they do for you or did it resolve itself? I'm not keen for more surgery...
TIA

Thanks Fletch. 3 weeks after would suck. Oooo, might have to remember that about telling them about the BFing. Abbey isn't BF any more (no supply) but I couldn't stand to be seperated from her!!! They wanted to admit her overnight when she was 10days old and I told them not unless I could stay too!

Hi Mg,
I have an okay story, after my DS who turned one on friday, I had several severe bouts and had the ultrasound that said I had gall stones, well I had a pretty bad c/s and this was still early days and I didnt want to go back in and have it out, I havent had an attack in 6months and I am pregnant again, so I will see how it goes, But sometimes the stones can go away for some time, the problem will keep cropping up sometimes years inbetween attacks and its really really painful.
So far all is well but I expect I will have problems again, so just wait and see, They gave me some decent pain relief for it though and yep its true pregnancy brings it on..
good luck

Oh Thanks Lindie! I admit I am hoping it will just "go away" (terrible attitude for a nurse) and not have to "deal" with it! I had another mild attack Sunday night but was able to deal with it with the left over pain relief I had from when I was discharged from c-sect and with some stemetil I had at home. My ultrasound is tomorrow morning and I am  it turns out to be nothing!

I'm feeling good thanks for asking Fletch. I had my u/s this morning and they confirmed there is definately stones there. But get this, I also have an enlarged spleen! Now we have to work out why my spleen is enlarged (normally infection but I've been healthy other than being PG, giving birth and the BC!). New rule - I don't have tests. Every time I do they find something else wrong!!!! I have an appointment with my GP tomorrow evening to discuss my options.
How are YOU feeling you poor chook!? I hope you get better quickly!

Sending you lots of get well soon vibes Fletch.
My GP appointment went well (even got offered a job!). He has referred me to a surgeon and told me this is a "not negotiable, mus see surgoen next week" matter. He said he wouldn't be worried about the spleen but to see what the specialist says as they have more of an idea than he does. So I'm putting that out of my mind for now and will call the surgeons rooms tomorrow... So, looks like I'm destined for more surgery...

Well, went and saw the surgeon this morning and he has confirmed that the gall bladder has to come out. He isn't worried about the spleen or lungs but wants me to have the surgery in the next couple of weeks. So I'm booked in for the 19th... *sigh* more surgery...

hi.. i had surgery for gallstones about 3 weeks ago.. i also had attacks during p/g but was told thats it was just baby kicking my ribs, anyway they ended up taking my whole gall bladder out so they cant come back.. i have 4 little scars but have had trouble with the one in my belly button as it split open again and i had to go back to hospital and be re-stiched again.. my baby is 4 months old and i found that being away from her for a week was hardest thing ever!! but now it was worth the op cause i dont have to be worried and scared that i will have another attack(worse than labour!!!) again and i can enjoy being with my baby..
