Buying a used overlocker, should I get the Pfaff or Elna?

Hi girls, I'm excited about buying a used overlocker, and I have a choice between a:

Pfaff 4 thread, 2 years old for $250

or

Elna 4 thread with differential feed, 5 years old for $399

What do you think? Do I need a differential feed? Is the older Elna better than the newer Pfaff?

Don't know but maybe you could ask a retailer what they would reccommend for a new machine. Also ask about cost of parts as one might be more expensive to fix.

ATM I'm using my mum's 34 yo Elna sewing machine and it's going brilliantly. She got it as a wedding present and I grew up using it.

i don't know much about sewing machines and overlockers, but i do know that my mum has had her sewing maching and overlocker for over 35 years... and there an elna. she's completely stoked with them!

Thanks girls. My sewing teacher says Elna is the best brand. I could buy a new Janome for the same amount as the 5 year old Elna, so I guess I need a bit of reassurance that spending the money on the Elna is the right thing.

I think Pfaff is a good brand too. I wonder if anyone here has tried a Pfaff overlocker.

Elna and Pfaff are both very good brands. I have only used their sewing machines though, not overlockers.

I am in the market for an overlocker too though, so will be watching this thread ;)
