Reliability of HPT's ?

Hi Girls,
I've been quiet for a while. Now on ICSI #4 and at the end of 2WW.

The good news is that I finally got an egg (only one mind you) and that it fertilised. This is REALLY good for me given it's my first egg ever.

EPU was 13/6 and the transfer was 15/6.

By BT is due tomorrow.

Ok...here's the deal. ....I was naughty and did a HPT yesterday morning. I was feeling quietly confident that I had no sign of AF. Anyway it came back with only one line.

I used one called Precise so hope it's true to name.

I'm using Crinone and the clinic did warn that AF may not arrive with Crinone.

Generally how reliable are HPT's ? AF still not come yet. Very anxious about the BT tomorrow and not holding out much hope.

I have realised with this pg, that my urine for some reason doesn't show up as much HCG as there is. I did HPT's and they all came up with feint lines and this was the "Fortel Ultra" which shows HCG levels of 10+ most HPT's show 25+. Anyway had a BT that day and it came back 83.7 :shock: what the? Anyway my point is I don't trust HPT's now LOL! I had the same problems with Paris, most came up pg even after BT said it was positive. I also have to say I have found precise to be not very precise ;) So maybe get some fortel ultra?

I've had 3 sucessful IVF cycles..
The first one I had a strong positive
Second a faint line
The third preg..I waited till the the day of bt and did 2 preg test negative both times...so I don't understand. The IVF nurse that rang me with the results told me that it happens all the time

The thing with HPTs, according to my GP, is that they are very good at telling you you are pregnant but not very good at telling you you're not. She said the blood test is the best way to go. I hope yours gives you the answer very quickly. Good luck for tomorrow. Can I ask what DOR stands for (sorry if you have explained this before)?

PS DOR is diminished ovarian reserve..... ie not many eggs left in the kitty.

Katem - I have my BT today also after a frozen embryo transfer. I have done 6 HPT (slightly excessive I know!!) they have all come bacl +ve but I still won't be convinced until I get the results from the BT. The tests I used were First Response.

LOL NZ girl you think thats obsessive, I have about 12 in my drawer in the bathroom LOL! My gf was joking that this babies keepsake box would have to be huge to store them all ;) Goodluck with your BT today, I am off to get my second HCG BT today!

Good luck with your BT for 3 Aug. If you do try a HPT before then look out for the sensitivity of the test.
