Wks With Broken Waters

Is There Anyone Whose Waters Have Broken Early But They Have Managed To Delay Birth. My Waters Broke Every Day From 23weeks Until I Had Bub At 30wks (plus Constant Heamorraging). I Havn't Heard Of Anyone And Am Just Interested.

Yes when bub is prem they simply give you antibiotics, ironic isn't it, that they jump up and down so much if you are at term and give you only 24hrs?! Bit of a joke. Waters do replenish still.

One of the girls at my aquanatal classes when I was pg with DS, her waters broke at 22 weeks, so she had to have antibitoics etc and be really careful.

My waters broke in my second pregnancy at 18 weeks and even with IV pushing fluids thru they never replenished and I delievered her a few weeks later. I was told at the time that she had no water surrounding her except a very small pocket. Depending on where the membranes have ruptured plays a big part of this as sometimes it can and has been known to reseal. The problems although with no waters intact was joint problems and repiratory problems.I'm glad to hear everything went well Reezy and your little one is well.

Yeah They Would Replenish And Then Would Break Every Day Never Had More Than 2cm Of Water And That Was In The Little Space Around His Neck. He Was Head Down For The 7wks. Ramming It In And Out Of My Pelvis . Without Water The Movements Were Pretty Painful As Well

I Thought When He Was Born It Was Going To Be A Dry Birth As Well And Was Told There Is No Such Thing They Actually Laughd At Me.

His Main Problem Was His Lungs And Having No Surfactant (excuse Spelling) In His Lungs Plus Tubes Gave Him Chronic Lung Disease.

Just out of curiosity what are the symptoms??

Last couple of days I have been having a trickle of clear discharge with ammonia smell to it? And has been on my mind that maybe my waters are broken (I am 24weeks)I am only thinking this cause during intercourse (sorry TMI) both me and DH felt something weird? And I thought maybe that was the sac? And we perhaps pushed things too far (would I have definitely known??)

This is definitely not a silly question, I would recommend you seeing your Dr or OB asap, just to make sure that everything is ok.

I am sure others will agree, when in doubt get checked asap, or you just lose sleep worrying.

there is never such a thing as a silly question when your pregnant!

i would get checked to put your mind at ease. i went to dr in my third preg cause thought my waters were leaking but was told it was discharge from intercourse (TMI).
but i would still get checked. i have learnt can never be to careful when pregnant.

My membrane sprung a slow leak at 19wks and then a total and complete rupture at 23wks. I had alternating oral and IV antibiotics and from 19wks til 29wks when Gussy was born. We were in a very dire position. Amongst a looooong list of issues, Gussy had intraventricular haemmorages and has plagiocephaly (parallelogram shaped head) caused from the pressure on his head while it was wedged in my pelvis without the protection of a sac/amnio fluid for so many weeks. I bled heavily (multiple subchorionic haemmorages) every day from wks 5 to 19. The fetal med specialist and Ob said that that the high volume of bleeding caused a chemical reaction with the cell walls of the amniotic sac and that premature rupture of membranes was almost inevitable. I should say that our case has been formally studied and is being written into an article for publication in a medical journal as the volume of bleeding was extremely unusal.

wow its amazing to read what you went through. its very scary i asked about the bleeding several times mothers instinct new it wasn't right how much i was losing and was told it was alright. it's amazing how strong bubs can be.

i had nurses coming in and ask me were my baby was or telling me what i was doing was normal after pregnancy. i had to tell everyone im still pregnant. the movements were very painful. birth brilliant. i didn't even feel like i had had a pregnancy or birth so to look at him was a bit surreal at first.

Hi - just found this thread. With my second born, my waters broke at 27 weeks and I was admitted to a high risk hospital ward. The plan/hope was for me to remain pregnant until week 33 when the baby would be at a healthier gestation but would be safer to deliver then than keep going with waters completely gone. The waters were replenishing themselves so I was continually leaking and on bed-rest. There was a risk that the umbilical cord could start descending and so they asked me to keep a look out and would need to deliver urgently should that happen. Anyway, I ended up having to deliver my baby 2 days after my waters had broken, so she was born at 27 weeks, as chorioamnioitis infection had set in which had not been apparent when I was first admitted with my waters gone (possibly infection happened due to being in the hospital environment). The high risk ward had about 8 or so women whose waters had gone and they were on bed-rest trying to hold off for more weeks and they told me of some cases which made it to full-term even when their waters had broken as early as 22 weeks.
