Very sad indeed....
:( I have a freind, we're very close. She is 21 weeks pregnant and last night she went up to the hospital because she thought her waters broke. They tested the fluid and couldn't say if it was or wasn't amnio fluid, she will be having an ultra sound tomorrow afternoon to see if there is a hole in the sac, they have told her that if there is then the baby isn't old enough to survive and they will induce her.
She has an 8 year old that was born premmie at 24 weeks and she has had a few miscarrages. She wasn't expecting this though, she is so upset and she had found out that she's having a boy.
It's just all too sad, I'm hoping for a miracle and it all turns out well  Been pregnant myself I'm finding this very upsetting. She is still leaking a little bit now, so I'm not to sure it is going to turn out well, but I'll keep hoping for her that it does.
Send some sticky vibes girls, and thanks for listening :stickyvibesboy:

Rose, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I'll have my fingers crossed for her that everything is fine tomorrow. I just read today a thread in the medical conditions thread, about women who have carried to term after their waters breaking early on in pregnancy. Apparently your body keeps replenishing the amnionic fluid, as long as the mother is on stick bed rest, it is possible to carry to term, but more likely just to a safe zone around 28-34 weeks. Did they tell her they will induce her, if there is a leak, and bubs is still alive?
Fingers crossed though, all works out tomorrow and she won't have to go down this road.

Sending all the positive thoughts I have to your friend... :hugs:

I hope things work out for your friend and there is a positive outcome for her.
One of the mums at my aquanatal class (when I was pg with DS) waters broke at 20weeks, and she went on to have a healthy baby. I'm not sure whether she went to term or not, but it was pretty much bedrest the whole time.

Sorry to hear the sad news about your friend and her bub... i  that everything will go well for her in the end.... i hope she's doing nothing but resting right now? fingers crossed all will be ok. she's lucky to have you as a good friend. :hugs:

Rose,
I just saw your post and it is quite a coincidence as I was talking to a girl in my water class tonight who told me that her friend's waters broke at 17 weeks and they told her they were going to induce her for the same reasons. She said NO and as she hadn't lost all her amniotic fluid doctors allowed a wait and see approach. She was flown to Sydney and after weeks of complete bed rest they induced her at about 28 weeks and her little boy was OK!! Make sure your friend has all the info. I'll keep an eye out for updates and will be hoping for the best!
Hope xo

There's hope yet :)
Well, my friend had her ultrasound and there is heeps of fluid around the baby and the baby is doing really well, She had to see the doctor tomorrow so she has to wait and see what he says, but she feels a bit better with it all, hopefully the doctor will give them both a chance. I'll let you know how she goes. Keep sending them sticky vibes, so far it's working

Update...
Well, my friend is hanging in there, the baby is growing well and she is looking bigger every time I see her, so that's a good sign, I'm thinking as long as she doesn't go into labour she will be ok, keep sending them sticky vibes, it seams to be working... She is now 22 weeks, two more weeks and if the baby is born after that at least he has a fighting chance, thankyou girls :)
