Three positive HPT but negative blood test What the?

I am soooo confused right now!
I did a HPT two days ago and it was a faint positive so I went to the doctors the next day to get a blood test to confirm and it was a qualitative and a quantitative. So when I got home from the doctors I did another HPT and it was another positive and darker than the first one. Today I got the blood test results and they are negative with my HCG level 2 or something like that. I am not only devistated but shocked as I have had two other pregnancies and never had a positive unless I was pregnant. I took another HPT today and another positive and it comes up in under 5 minutes and the maxium time is 10mins. I feel pregnant and am really confused. I am seeing my obstertrican tomorrow to see what is going on. Is there anyone else who has had a positive HPT but a negative blood test? I need a little hope:pray:

this happened to a friend of mine.. she did 2 HPT and came up positive but with faint 2 blue lines, she went to the doctors to confirm and the blood test came back negative.. the doctor told her to wait a week and come back, on the second visit to the doctors they did the blood test and it came up positive!!:clap:

Cherie - im sorry i cant give you any helpful advice, but im hoping your ob can shed some light, praying that its a bfp for you sweety :)

hi Cherie 26, my sis was the same as you , she went back to the doc a week later , she was preg . Wishing you all the best , just play the waitng game , is just like the TWW.

WOW! That's a spin out huh? Don't the HPT's pick up no less than 25mcg? Fingers crossed you get a viable BFP!!

Cherie - did the lab mix up your results with someone elses maybe? You never know...anything is possible. Maybe ring them if its worming you (as it would me). Other wise, I agree totally with the others...wait a week, do another HPT and then go back and ask for another BT even if its another doctor...they say HPT arent wrong.

Maz- it is driving me crazy! I am going to make sure my ob takes a blood test tomorrow and he is also going to do an ultrasound so at least something is happening I suppose.
Heybacko- I thought about the evaporative line but it is blue in colour just like the control line and it comes up within minutes and is definatley there by five and to have three tests now it seems a little strange. I have had a headache for two days, feel sick and back ache I am totally confused.
As for your HCG levels I had a my D&C on the 15th march and my levels were back to 0 by the 20th of April and got my AF on the 22nd so it did take mine a while as well and I have read that it can take up to 2 months. If your levels still dont go down then ask for more tests to see if you still have retained tissue. I hope you get your AF or BFP soon!

cherie I hope that you are my :crossfingers: that you are pregnant make sure you request for an ultrasound and blood test.

Heybacko- I reckon about the tests too! If it turns out that I am not I will be letting everyone know not to use pregnosis clear! I am just so nervous about today I will be so devistated if I am not! AHHHH! I hate waiting!
I just re read your message and if you are having cramps ect and had some bleeding I would definatley be asking for an ultrasound because if your level is still at 29 then you may still have retained tissue and this can lead to infection or so I have been told as my sister works for an obstertrician. It suprises me how we have to ask the doctors to do their jobs!

When I had my m/c I had a HCG level of 3 when I was at the hospital. I was 5 weeks 4 days at the time. By then I had been bleeding for over 24 hours. I had tested with 3 different tests (none of them the early kind) including a digital one which I think measured HCG levels over 50. I was told that it looked like I had been pg but no longer was but as I had a reading of 3 that I still could be and that the rise just hadn't occurred yet. Two days later I tested again and I got a -tve HPT. I was retested 3 days later & I was back to zero.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that from what they said it is still possible to have a low HCG reading and still be pregnant.... it didn't turn out that way for me but I was bleeding and you are not so don't give up hope just yet. I really hope things work out well for you.

I am hoping but at the moment hope is all i have but at least your story shows that a low HCG level can show up on a HPT as I was starting to think I am doing something wrong!

Well do you want the bad news or the bad news?
I am probably not pregnant (Obs terms) Not a definate no though. He did a scan and said everthing looks normal and doesnt show any signs of pregancy. He said wait another two weeks and see how I go and then we will do more blood tests to see where my period is. Also my Projesteron (Not sure of the spelling) was low which would suggest that I probably havent even ovulated this month! I just dont get it. The positive tests came up straight away I didnt even have to wait and he just seemed so casual about it. Dont get me wrong he is a good Ob but I feel like he just wanted to get me in and out to get on to the next patient (He was running way behind).
So at the moment I sounds like I cant even fall pregnant since I am not ovulating (Apparently that is probably just my body getting its self back to normal after the D&C)
If I here one more PROBABLY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway thanks guys for all your support and I wish I had better news.
I am still going to do another test though (Just to be sure) as he didn't even do one.

that is great that you have your period at least you know where you at with your cycle now!
That is really strange about the chemical pregnancy and very forward of her! But I suppose since she doesn't know your medical file she is just giving you all possibilities.
Has it been a really heavy period? Dont they say that even early miscarriages/chemical pregnancies are really heavy and painful? I here you on the testing!!! I will never trust a test again! I did read somewhere in a google seach that HCG is last to leave your urine so that is why you can get a faint positive on a HPT and a negative on a blood test! It is all getting a little to confusing for me I fell pregnant twice before without thinking about it but this time is driving me CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!
