I LOVE yum cha! I don't see why not... it's all hot food (cooked food) so you should be fine? Just watch the seafood ones' like prawn stay away from that.
it would be soooo unfair if you couldn't have it! My DF and I looove the pork buns they are soo beautiful
Yeah you can providing you go somewhere that brings it straight from the kitchen. You can also ask the staff to bring you the fresh stuff as soon as it comes out (we do this even if I'm not pregnant at some places ;)) Just stay away from the foodgroups (as renstar says) that you aren't supposed to eat when pg.
*hugs*

Just be careful - we had a big family yum cha get-together on mother's day and most got food poisoning. I think if the food they're bringing out is luke-warm by the time it reaches you then its been sitting there for too long.
Yum cha = yumm!!!
I tend to go for the fresh ones - even if they are prawns or not, but don't follow me on that because I'm naughty and I love my food and I especially love my steam prawn dumpling.
They say that street food is more yummy than restaurant food when you go overseas. I tend to go to yum-cha places in hotels and proper restaurants because they (should) be following health and safety regulations.
If I couldn't have yum cha if I was pregnant I think I would die. :)
I had yum cha every month while pg with Flynn and am doing the same with Little One. Not much blue cheese and smoked salmon on your usual yum cha menu :)
I asked my FS about this when I first fell prg and he said it wasn't a problem at all.
I've been a few times this prg and I just stick to the vegetarian stuff (yum!). I also go to a very busy restaurant in the Sydney CBD, so I know the turn over of the food is very quick because they are so busy, everything always comes out steaming hot.
This is a bit off topic, but i've always wondered - what exactly is Yum Cha??
We only eat kosher food, so i've never had any, but i always see signs for it.
Yael - Yum Cha is kind of like chinese antipasto! They bring around chinese small foods - dumplings, spring rolls, chinese broccoli in Oyster etc things that you would find on a chinese appetiser list. The wait staff bring it around of trolley's and you simply take what dishes you like and they stamp a little cardboard ticket which they tally at the end!
Its yummy.
Noe to answer the questions, Cha is fine when preggo. Just keep in minf the stuff you should avoid and you should be fine. I ate heaps when I was pregnant and was fine. After all Chinese women have babies (and lots of them!) and they must eat it too!
Thanks PrincessT - YumCha sounds yummy! And my husband was very impressed when i could finally tell him what it was.
The closest we get is the chinese appetiser platter entre at this kosher restuarant near us - but every time i ask for it they say its not avaliable :(
Maybe when we go overseas in a few years we will try and find a kosher chinese place with Yum Cha - i'll take photos to prove i've had it!
