Breast milk after a miscarriage

Has anyone had breast milk after their miscarriage.

On my EDD I had a really sore boob (like how your boob feels when you have stopped feeding) and on closer inspection I found that I had milk ( I didn't get much milk when I had DS & DD). I have asked the gyn about it and he just shrugged his sholders. That was back in April. It did go but now its back but only a little drip. GP is doing blood tests.
No one I know has had it happen to them.

I know I am a rare one (so I've been told) as I apparently had the worst kind of miscarriage (the gyn told me, I didn't know there was a scale on miscarrage) and now they tell me I have ashermans (which is rare).

Chris I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't have this happed to me so I am sorry I cant help but I am positive there are women in here who have experienced similar so I hope you get you answer soon. You aren't pregnant are you?

Sorry for your loss. I had a missed miscarriage and a D&C at 12 weeks. About 3 days after the D&C my breasts got incredibly sore and full and I woke up one morning with a soaked tank top. Had to buy breast pads.

I got told this happens after miscarriages quite often but less so at 12 weeks (more in the 2nd/3rd trimester). I got told to put cabbage leaves (!) against my breasts to help dry things up or wait about 2 weeks.

If I squeeze now (6 weeks after D&C) a little bit may come out but nothing like after the D&C.

Chris, I am in Newcastle too. Do you know about the online Ashermans Syndrome group? Look under Yahoo Health Groups. It is a fantastic group for information & support. In Australia we have one of the top 5 surgeons in the world for AS corrective surgery. PLEASE look into that.

Some women do experience continued milk production after a miscarriage. Usually it's a question of pituitary function. The tests your GP has ordered should help pin that down.

Cherie26: No I can't be pregnant (even though that's all I want to happen) as I haven't had AF since D&C last September. I have ashermans which is uterin adheasions (my uterus is stuck together like a pancake). If I do have AF it goes out my tubes into my body cavity. My Gyn hasn't even given me the option of fixing it just said that a historectomy is the best for me.

kiwigirl: It dose help. I had an incomplete missed miscarriage and then a D&C in Sept and no milk. It turned up on EDD instead. With DD & DS I was lucky to have milk for 2-3 days after the birth (was told that my thyroid complaint stopped my milk ). It could be thyroid or as castle said a pituitary problem.

castle: I'll look into the support group. They might be able to answer some of the questions I have about AS. As for the blood test. I should get results on Monday and I will ask GP about pituitary function. Thanks for the info

Chris, PLEASE check out the online group. Do NOT take your gyn's word on needing a hysterectomy (I am pretty sure I know who it is). There is corrective surgery available & as I said we have one of the world's best doing it right here. Will look out for you there!
