My friends' son is 1 next month and he's walking on his toes. Ever since he could pull himself up onto furniture etc, he has walked on his toes. Is this ok? My daughter never did this, has anyone elses' child done this, and when do they stop?? She's a bit worried about it and I didn't know what advice to give her?
From what I was told by MCHN and paed. when Milo started to walk, its really important that they walk on their feet (as opposed to just toes) to ensure all the muscles/ligaments etc develop properly.
There may be an underlying reason that her son is walking on his toes and I would have it checked out if it were me.
Hi - my daughter use to only walk on her toes (from when she could walk) she sometimes still does, but its very rare... as she is my only child i never really thought of it as a problem

I would also get it checked out.. if they walk on their toes all the time, the ligaments etcwont legnthen & can lead to future problems...

I have read it is normal when they first star but then they go to flat foot walking..
get your friend to visit a child health nurse and double check
I really don't think there is too much to worry about if he is only doing it while he is walking along the furniture.
Once he starts getting the confidence to walk unaided will give a better indication if it's a physiological problem or just one of his little quirks IYKIWIM.
Mason was a tippy toes walker just like that too.
Zander was a toe walker as well for a long time. We'd say to him "Walk on your feet" all the time & he eventually grew out of it. I agree with the others though, it can be dangerous for the ligaments in the legs, as one side can get stretched to far & not be able to retract properly.
