migraines and vomiting
today i feel like total crap.. it is now 4:30pm and have only just gotten out of bed because i have been suffering migraine and vomitting since this morning :(
i hope to god this is not going to be a regular thing during my pregnancy, but i am well aware that it could be...
just wondering, should i see a doctor about this if i keep getting these headaches??
this morning i couldn't even keep water down. but by this arvo i have managed to keep water and 2 crumpets down.. do you think this is a one off thing or will i suffer for the rest of my pg??

It's hard to say.... I suffer from the same throughout pregnancy and it is truly debilitating so you have my every sympathy. I put a cold pack on my head and a hot pack on my neck and lie down when I can... I know for me that hunger and stress are my big triggers so I try and ensure I don't get hungry. The stress factor is a little harder!
Definitely mention it to your doctor but there really isn't qa lot that can be done in pregnancy...

Hi,
I too suffer terrible headaches and pregnancy has been no exception.
Cold packs are ideal as the cold really does distract from the throbbing pain.
Try and take some panadol before the nausea set's in to relieve the pain, even if it just takes the edge off.
As vomiting from the pain doesnt help the situation.
Stay well hydrated at all times not just when u have the headache as dehydration doesnt help.
I hope I have helped a little.... take care!!

Hey there,
I've been getting bad headaches aswell since beginning my second trimester. I too just try not to get hungry (small snacks throughout the day) and plenty of liquids! With this said it still doesn't stop them completely, but i just dont seem to get them as often.

I had 3 weeks of agonising headaches and just tried to sleep through them as much as I could. The doctor just said water, panadol and bed rest because it's caused by pregnancy hormones they can't do much about :( Hope you feel better soon

thanks everyone
i do feel alot better today.. I spoke to my sister and she said she had been suffering the same thing so perhaps in my case something is going around here :(
i always carry a water bottle with me no matter what so i am sure i am getting enough fluids throughout the day...
thanks for all your advice.

I have also been suffering from severe headaches which my obs suspects are migraines
I have to keep a headache diary, to looks for patterns (i.e. its a migraine when it only affects one side, which mine does.. I also can't be around light, and i feel nauseous and throw up).
I have on prescription med (doloxene), as my obs wants me to avoid panaedine (panadol does nothing), as he says sometimes not taking it in itself can cause headaches. Once i changed from panadeine i def. got less headaches (used to be every day, now i get them 1-2 times a week).
Apparently there might be one migraine med that you can take in preg, but i'm not seeing my obs for a few weeks so will find out then if i need it (i'm managing ok at the moment)
I just have to sleep in a very dark quiet room for most of the day.. oh, and have icepacks on my head if its really bad.
And i mentioned the hormone theory to my obs.. he doesn't buy that one, he says you would have to show why i have a higher amount of hormone in my body to other women, and also estrogen is the hormone that normally gives headaches, but at this stage in pregnancy its normally progestrone that is produced by the placenta anyway. Maybe its how your body reacts to the hormone (same as HCG and m/s in women I guess), but yeh, he didn't go with the hormone theory causing it.
