Ideas for Aussie food.
OK for world environment day at my son's kindy on Thursday, we have to bring in some food and music of our culture. Since we are of aussie background I have no idea beside vegemite what to do for 4-5 yr olds food wise and help would be greatly appreciated.

To me Aussie food = something I can't get in the US when we visit there.
So vegemite is fantastic as is pavlova and sausage rolls and meat pies.
-
I was going to say sauage rolls. YUMMMMM!!!
-
Mmm pavalova sounds nice, but I have to walk and it takes about 20-25 mins, so it may not make it in one piece, then again I could buy one and decorated it there, thanks Christy.
Keep the ideas coming, I'm such an undecided person, lol.

I use puff pastry & smear it with vegemite & roll it up & cut it in 1cm circles and have vegemite scrolls at home. SOOOO easy to make & yum!
-
how about some damper or scones with vegemite, yummie or else sausage rolls would be great too. ummm this is hard isnt it LOL, I can think of things like stew with dumplings, bangers and mash but that sort of thing may be just to hard to cope with getting there etc.
good luck

Lamingtons are pretty aussie too!
-
yummy lamingtons are the best hehe
-
Ooo I could make pumkin scones and some plain ones as well, lamintons are a great idea too. I've just had a mental block when trying to think of aussie food, you girls are great.

ANZAC biscuits?
Pav is a good one. Is it supposed to be savoury though, or dessert, or it doesn't matter?
meat pies (maybe party pie size?)

Isnt fairy bread aussie? I remember Rove telling someone from the USA what it was..
