Baby's movements dropping off?

I have been noticing (or not noticing, as the case may be) that my baby's movements seems to be dropping off. Yesterday I only noticed about 6 in a 12 hour period, but when I drank a cold glass of water I could make the baby move.

I'll be keeping another kick chart today, but I was just wondering if I could expect the movements to drop off a little now that I think the baby has started to engage?

If I dont get the 10 movements today I will be calling the hospital, but I was just wondering other ladie's experiences.

Mine definately decreased. At 34.5 weeks they dropped considerably and I was in hosp having ctg every 2 days. At one stage it looked like I was going into labour (according to midwife) but it didnt eventuate luckily. Since then I seem to be in a pattern of bub slowing down and me getting more braxton hicks/period pain for a day and then a day when I feel better and bub is a bit more active again. But only pushing theres no room for much else any more. She has an obvious knee sticking out and sometimes I have gently pressed it and she pushes back which makes me feel better.
So for me it was normal so I hope that helps a bit but like the midwives say its better to pop in for a quick ctg to reassure yourself otherwise you cant stop thinking about it.

Should I have to do anything to make it move? It seems like the only time the baby moves is when I drink a cold drink or eat something really sweet.

I've just had a drink of Coke, and baby moved, which is good, but should I have to do that, or should baby move by him/herself??

oh you poor thing sugar! i was worried like you. if it is possible to go into hospital it is a real relief. personally i had to do that until i could relax at first. i felt a bit reluctant but then thought no this is my bub and i need peace of mind and the midwives really understood that. i was just honest and said im inexperienced and scared and they said come in the first time i was worried. can you do that? if not, you could call a midwife to chat.

It is normal for your baby not to move as much now. There is a lot less room in there. Movements now will be more like the odd kick and only the occasional large movement. Also you are now used to your baby moving so you do not notice the movements as much as you did earlier in your pregnancy

Thanks Alan - you're exactly right, the more I concentrated on the movements today the more I felt, so feel much more reassured today!

During the later stages i felt less movement (in terms of kicks). Her actions were more subtle like little hand/finger movements because of the limited space. Because the movements were small i could only sense them when i really tried. Plus babies do sleep a lot :)

i was thinking last night, that if it wasnt for the hiccoughs, i would hardly ever feel my bubs move. . . . .
But, in saying that - today - OMG - it wants out!
