baby moving from outside
I know there have been lots of discussions about when you first feel your baby move and it ranges from 14 - 24 weeks. I was unlucky (I think) and only felt it for first time about 22 weeks.
Anyway now I'm wondering when you're meant to feel the baby from the outside. Whenever I feel the flutters/vibrations from the inside I put my hand on my tummy but I can't feel anything.
My ob said to me that he can't feel the baby and it's normal not to feel it until about 28 weeks - is this what other people have found? I desperately want to feel it and my husband too.

I suppose it depends on a lot of things - how much fluid you have in there and the position and size of the baby and the position of the placenta. As they get bigger you can definately feel and see it from the outside. With this pg I had been feeling movement for about 6 weeks before I could feel it properly from the outside, so about 17-18wks for me (but this is my 4th so the tummy aint so taught anymore LOL) and now the kids can even see the movements when he is really getting into it.
Oh, I just noticed we are due on the same day too - so don't worry too much about what I've said and it won't be long before you can feel bubs kicking away.

Hey Jordie,
You sound pretty similar to me - I didn't really feel anything until around 22 weeks, and then a couple more before I started to feel them from the outside. And my DH didn't really start to feel anything until I was around 26w. My placenta is anterior, so I figured I just had extra cushioning. But it definitely becomes more noticeable as bubs gets bigger & stronger, so hang in there! Now I'm getting visible kicks & movements a few times a day, I'm sure you'll get your share soon.

hello- yeah i only really felt anything from the inside at about 21 weeks and i got really worried and freaked out about it. i put dp's hand on my tummy all the time when we're sitting on the couch at night and he still reckons he can't feel anything at all, even when i'm really uncomfortable. it sux!! so i really look forward to when he gets to feel a big kick!!

Having reached the 30 week mark, it is only in the past fortnight that I have really noticed action from the outside.
Its like they know though when your DH/DP hand is on your belly not to kick. I put a cushion on my belly yesterday which became quite entertaining for all watching.
Don't worry your time will come with your bubs.

I first felt flutters at week 14. Then I got some proper kicks, which felt like gentle taps, at 20 weeks. The next day, I felt them on the outside also then so did my husband! It was the most amazing feeling.
When I lay on my back I can feel the baby turning and squirming to get comfortable. It tickles. Thats when I put both hands over my belly cos it normally kicks and punches when it moves around.
This is my first baby too.
If you haven't felt your bub on the outside yet then don't worry too much. You have something very exciting to look forward too! I haven't seen my belly move yet so thats what I look forward too!
I can't believe I'm 23 weeks already. Bring on October!!

I first felt this little bub kicking at 16w6d and my DH felt it one week later 17w6d. This to me was surprisingly early for him to feel it, but he definitely felt it kick on Monday.
I don't know when you're 'meant' to be able to feel it though.

Hi!
I frist felt proper kicks at around 20 weeks and DH at 23 weeks (but only once) since then everytime he has tried our little one goes quiet, even when i have trouble feeling them from te outside! Now that i am at 26 weeks though we can lie then and watch my tummy bounce, its amazing :) i think i have well and truly gradulated from kicks to thumps!!

i think everyone is different and as others have said, it depends on how your placenta is lying etc...
i am just starting to really feel some noticeable movements and there has been 1 occasion where dh could feel on the outside.. but thats it.. everything else is just flutters.. so it will be a little longer for me i think before its really noticeable on the outside.
