lump on top of anus
Hiya girls.
Not sure if anyone has had this before with their babes.
A couple of weeks ago at the top of Asthon's anus (in the muscley bit where all the skin pulls inward) i noticed there was a small lump, it was like just a swollen bit of skin, and I didn't think too much off it. Anyway this last week it has got slightly bigger, not by alot but noticeable and you can still see it when you close his legs, and to touch it, it feels slightly firm.
I have made an appointment for this afternoon to get it checked out by the GP, but in the meantime anyone got any opinions on what it could possibly be. He has been straining a bit to do #2's since being on solids more, so not sure if it is related to that at all.

its not a haemmoroid is it?

Hmmm that's the first thing that came to my mind too Kat... roid? The other thing it could be is an insect bite? If my son is bitten by a mozzie or a flea, the lump stays there for a week.
-
I think it sounds like a roid. :(
-
Cody had something similar, just more towards his butt cheek though, his was a pus filled cyst. All the doctor did was lance it and it healed by itself, but it my also be a roid if he's been straining a bit much.

Are roids the same colour as the rest of the skin though?? I thought they were like a purpley colour.... can you tell i haven't had any before LOL

They can be, or darker, depends how much 'pressure' there is I guess.
You can tell I have ;)

LOL Linda.
Thanks girls. At least I am not going in there totally blind, and wont be shocked if that is what it is. Will let ya know how he gets on.

Not overly Jillian, but thinking back to when I first saw it a couple of weeks ago it was around the same time he had started waking up during the night again, to which i am just normally blaming teeth LOL. More than likely a coincidence but makes ya wonder.

It might be a bit of scaring from an anal fissure. Has he been constipated lately?
-
He has been struggling and quite a bit of effort goes into his bowel movements with not a huge result.

ohhh good luck hope all is ok!

If he has been constipated, it may result in a small fissure, or tear, of the sphincter (sp?) which whilst healing can cause a thickened edge or something that looks a bit like a pile/skin tag. If this is what it is, they do usually self-heal... but obviously you'd have to get it checked out for a proper diagnosis. I'm only guessing as a friends' daughter had this as a young bub.
Let us know how you go at the doc's. Good luck.

Hi Girls.
It is like a skin tag, definitely not a 'roid *phew* he has given me some ointment for it and a minor laxative to help him pooh a bit more easier, and he said after a while we should notice some improvement on it.
Thanks girls !!
