HyCoSy v HSG - What's the difference?

What’s the difference between a HyCoSy and an HSG?

It is impossible to book anywhere in Perth for a HyCoSy so my clinic said that an HSG was fine since the results are essentially the same.

I know that dye is put through the tubes for a HyCoSy but have no idea what an HSG involves?

Could someone please educate me?

It's probably a bit late, but I only found out the answer to this today !!

I go to Pivet (in Perth) and I'm currently doing an assessment cycle. I'm booked in for a HyCoSy tomorrow. I asked the nurse today about the "dye" becuase I was worried it might be too close to O and didn't want it to interfere with anything. She said that at Pivet they use "agitated saline" with the hycosy, and dye is used with an HSG. I didn't question her any more about the dye properties, because I was happy with the saline answer... so I don't know much more about HSG than that they use dye. So maybe that's the main difference ?
Good luck ! Which clinic are you with ? If you booked in for a hycosy at Pivet, the problem is that you'd probably have to do all your screening tests all over again - they're a bit funny that way. But if HSG gives the same result then just go with that ! Just make sure it's booked on CD 7-10 (mine was booked on CD12 coz of a doctor availability problem). Tho my worries about dye are just all in my mind - no-one has actually told me it's dangerous or anythign!! I just get a bit paranoid.!! :rolleyes:

Thanks for your reply. I had an HSG a couple of weeks ago (CD5) and am happy to report that neither tube is blocked. I go to FSWA at Bethesda and had my procedure done at SKG at Bethesda also.

It's a little uncomfortable but I was okay to drive a car afterwards. I had to wait about an hour for my results. I had BT's to track O this cycle (sorry, is that what you meant about having an assessment cycle?) Now in the dreaded TWW!
