Time off work for lap
How much time did you take off work when you had a lap? I'm having the following procedures done LAPAROSCOPY HO/D&C DYE STUDY HYSTEROSC RESECT FIBROID.
I'm not sure how much time I should plan to take off work and just wanted to hear from other ladies how much time they actually took off afterwards. I didn't ask the gyno when I saw him & I've seen recommendations on the net of just the one day to a week or two. I work in admin so I get to sit down all day.
I had one done a decade a go (without the resection) on a Friday and was back to work on the Monday but I think from memory I struggled a bit as I had some problems with stitches.

i had a lap done last year on a Thursday - and was given a certificate for the Thursday and Friday - but i took a full week off (went back following Thursday) - and i'm kinda glad i did. technically, i could have gone back on the Monday, but i was still uncomfy enough that i wasn't sleeping properly and was very tired so wouldn't have been up to doig my job properly any earlier (i work in a call centre, so similar work environment to you). i COULD have gone back sooner, but i'm very happy that i didn't - hope that makes sense!

i was given a week of work from my DR and i could have gone back sooner if i wanted too, but i had Stacks of sick leave.. so i thought that i would use it..
I am glad that i had the week off, i had pain from the gas so it was nice to be at home

Thanks ladies. I've got heaps of sick leave up my sleeve.... months of it actually so it's not an issue if I need it.
My boss just needs to know how long roughly I'll be off for so that our team can plan around it. If it's mid week I will probably tell him I'll take 3 days off (including the op day) and then play it by ear. Then again if I get given a certificate for a week I will be happy to take it.

Satya, you are probably better off having a DR certificate for more than you think you will need and then if you go back to work before hand it is not an issue..

I'll plan for the three days but take whatever the doctor suggests. No point going back early when I have so much sick leave owing. Also at my work they are really strict on coming back early so if your certificate says a certain date they wont let you back before it - they make you go back to the doctor and get a letter saying you are OK to come back early - it's such a pain.

My FS instracted a minimum of 5 days and I had a large adhesion removed, went back to work day 6 and only managed a half day and I am in Admin as well. I would go at least 6 days especially as you are restricted in movement and any lifting or moving stuff around certainly aggravates it.
