Rituals in 16 month old. Normal???

Hi, I just wanted to ask your opinions regarding babies of the same age as mine. Khye is my fourth child and as my other 3 were so placid and easy going i've never had this problem before.
Every morning when Khye gets up he checks the child locks on the kitchen cupboards, if one is open or not fully closed he freaks out completely, the same goes for any doors (throughout the house) that should be closed or open if they aren't the same he freaks, pop up wipe container the same. When we go to friends houses he likes to do the exact same thing (see the ceiling fan spin or see the light turn on for example), if he doesn't do these things he is unbareable. He understands a lot of what i,m saying nods for yes eg but only says "mum". He calls everyone mum. He is very active and can't stand still for very long and I don't think he has ever watched tv for longer than a minute.
His diet consists of elecare formula, meats and vegies (very limited processed foods) due to severe allergies.
Does anyone else have a baby this age with these type of rituals????? what do I do??

Have you spoken to CHN or doc?? Sounds like it could be some form of OCD or some forms of autism I believe some kids do things like that. I hope that it's nothing like that though, some kids just like order??

Have you taken Khye to an immunologist/allergist?

Hi Keira - I was thinking along those lines but i didn't know if I was been too paranoid.
Hi Cass - Yes we have been to an allergist (long story), he has been tested for allergies and has heaps of them.
We are going back to the allergist (paediactric allergist) on wednesday, so i'll mention it to her and see who we should see.

My Mum is a special education teacher and I have just described your sons behaviours to her. she said it definitely sounds like a type of Autism(spectral dissorder or something along those lines), manifests very early so thats why it's happening now. The sooner you have a diagnosis the sooner you can learn the skills to cope with it and help him cope with it, so definitely talk to the paediatrician.

Thanks for your reply pebbles. I will talk to his paediatrician about it. As you said if I am on the right track I should get him diagnosed sooner rather than later. I know they don't like to diagnose that young but the more information I have the better.
