Hi Everyone!
DH and I are starting to think about a highchair for Miss T! But we don't really know where to start! Are they all pretty much the same? I saw one called a 'High Low Chair' where I think you can make it higher or lower as you wish....not sure if this would be useful or not!
Any advise/feedback from your own experience would be fantastic!!

we were givin a prima pappa high-low chair when pg and i have always hatedit! i find it difficult to clean in the padded seat, the tray is really high DS couldn't use it til 10 months and still can't reach the tray all that well, it takes up a fair bit of space and is big and bulky to take to friends places for tea. It has been sitting outside in the rain for a week cause i bought a new one. The new one is and Infa one, pretty much the same as the childcare and mothers choice ones at kmart and target, very simple, tray is way lower, doesn't have hugely padded seat, seat has no creases where food can get stuck and folds up really thin and is very light. I paid $70 for it and it WAY more practical for us.
There are a lot of people who love thier big chunky expensive chairs though, my biggest tip when buying a high chair would be to make sure that the tray doesn't sit up too high.

We have a space saver one which you attach to your normal kitchen chair. It also reclines back for little babies :)

we have one from ikea, fantastic!!! all up including blow up insert it was $50
I have the choice mag recomended one babylove arabella, it is a little bulky but when in the low position can sit under kitchen table, I wipe it down after each use and once a week take the cover off and give it a good hose, I am very happy with it and would recomend it always
hi-low is great, especially if you feel lazy and want to sit in lounge and watch telly :lol:
We have a hi-low Steelcraft chair... i love it.
Go to the shops & grab whatever one is on special... Much of a muchness I reckon!!!
I love my Ikea one... such a basic design but it works so well and is really easy to clean
We got a peg pegero. Great, great chair, but with bubs #3 i will be getting an ikea one. Bubs dont need padding and toys and soft cushioning when they are eating IMO - its more work for you to keep it clean. LOVE the ikea highchairs, wipe over and there clean.
Our high chair also has multi possi's (recline etc) but i find you just dont use them.....
I loved my Hi-lo chair. We have no dining table so we needed the setting for feeding when we were sitting on the couch. I really liked the recline option, Maggie loved sleeping in it for her naps. It was a life saver for me, just strap her in and push it back and forth and she would go to sleep. So I really used it more as a "rocker" rather than for feeding.
i have a fisher pice rainforrest one.... its a high lo one .. IMO its not that great ... i reckon an ikea one is best .. or a good sturdy one like a babylove kookybird or just a plain one .. its easy to wipe out and once a kid is big enough and wlaking i dont think they want to sit in a "babies"chair .. jus make sure the tray can be removed .. and that is sturdy and safe ... and no need to spend too much ....
buy sometings for your self with the money you save by buying a practical no fuss high chair ... let us know which one u get !!

I have the prima pappa high-low chair. Love that the seat moves up and down. It is a bit of a pain to clean, but like that the top tray can be removed and washed in the sink. In all honesty, I would buy something else given time over. I like the Stokke wooden chair or even the Ikea chair. Get something that is easy to clean is my best tip!
I have the mothers choice high low chair and i find it great, the wheels are great easy to move around & yeah when ur feeling lazy u can put it down to low and sit on the couch & watch tele

We have a space saver and they are awesome!! If you want to have a naughty day and bring her into the lounge room you can.... you can put her at the kitchen table... you can take it away with you... you can put it on your outdoor setting.... they are great!!
We went to get the high low chair and when we realised how bulky it was.... well I guess it was sitting next to the space saver in the shop :P he he he.. so we went with that one :)
He loves it... and you can tip them back... not that we have had a use for that but i beleive it would help with little bubbas...

Whatever you do I really recommend that you get one with the divider thingy in between the legs (for the life of me cannot remember what to call it!!) because I have found when using other highchairs without that, that my kids slid down even if strapped in. It just helps to keep them more upright.
My highchair is now 3 years old, it is a Childcare brand and is great, altho like others have said I barely ever used the reclining functions.
I have the Fisher Price space saver one and It's fantastic!! We don't have much space so it's great, it reclines for littlies and the back comes off when they're big so it's a booster seat. It has the bit between the legs too which I agree is a must have for a squirmer...
I'm not sure what the high chair I have is called, but it came from kmart and it has colourful spots all over it. Well, my son is almost one, and not small for his age, but we find that the tray sits too high for him to reach up and get food off. it seems to sit right at the level of the top of his shoulder.
I don't have any suggestions which high chairs are best to get, but just be careful of the tray height...
