I'm sorry to ask this question... as i am sure you have all been asked hundreds of times!
I have been told not to worry about getting 0000 for baby as it will last her hardly any time at all... so i have been buying everything in 000. I do however plan to get her a really pretty outfit in 0000 for going home.
My question is... How much do you really need for baby? I have so many baby clothes now, i have honestly just gone crazy! And how long did 000 last you with your baby?
My DD was 2.6kg (5lbs 14) when born so her
0000 clothes lasted for around 2-3months
000 lasted till 6mths (mainly target brand, pumpkin patch only lasted to 4-5months
00 she has been in since 4 weeks ago and will be for a while yet, but pumpkin patch is getting a little small now, but still fits.

Over here, 000 is called 0-3 months, 0000 is 0-1 months, 00000 is newborn. Maybe that will help you a bit with sizes?
DS was in 0000 for less than 2 weeks, never in 00000. I was unable to do up his 0000 vests with poppers at the bottom after just one week; he wore a lot of dungarees so they were just unpoppered most of the time. He was in 000 until about 7-8 weeks, not that long (so only 6 weeks in total).
What I had for him... 4 pairs of dungarees, 2 pairs smart trousers, 6 sleepsuits, 2 shirts, 1 fleece, loads of knitted cardigans, about 10 short-sleeve vests, 1 big furry winter jacket. I was washing every 2-3 days with that - but DS had reflux.
Size 0000 he had 7 vests, 1 pair of smart trousers, 3 sleepsuits, 2 baby outfits (well, 3, but one was for a girl as we didn't know what we were having). That was more than enough as you can use the 000 stuff with that and having stuff that fits makes the baby look a bit less tiny - you want the baby to look so big everyone is amazed you could fit her out LOL.
0000 never fitted Chelsea.. she wore 1 outfit for about 30 mins and the poor chook couldnt move (born 3.385kg)
000 lasted til about 4 months old
00 all fit now except bonds suits..
Rule of thumb.. always buy the next size up to what DD is wearing...but i also know u hate bonds suits!!
Bonds suits are really small sizing I think. Charlie is now in 00 except for bonds suits he's wearing 0.
He wore a 0000 suit in the hospital & it only just did up. He's now in 00 & some 0 and not yet 3months. To date he weighs 6kg. It's really hard as the sizes are all different for every different brand of clothing. Some seem huge & some seem way too small. Then like me you think something is way to big & by the time you go to put it on its way too small!! ahhhhh:) I haven't bought any clothes as everyone else did & they don't stay in them for long so wasn't any point me spending the money. Some stuff he never even got to wear. I now dress Charlie up even when staying home or it will never get worn.
Each bubs is different some grow real fast, others are petite so it's really too hard to say. Bonds 000 singlets will last a fair while though as they seem to have lots of stretch in them.

It's really going to depend on how big your baby is.
My DS was fairly big - 3.83kgs (8lb 7oz) but he still fit in 0000 for the first month. I didn't have much in 0000 but I'm glad I had some stuff because it was nice to have clothes that fit him properly when we were out and about because 000 simply swam on him for the first 6 weeks or so and I kept thinking he looked like a homeless waif! He was and is a long skinny baby.
My best friend's DD was only 6lbs and at nearly 3 months is only just out of 0000 now.
DS also got through about 4 changes of clothes a day initially - he was a champion pooer and the nappies just couldn't contain it - plus he was a bit vomity - once again, a very individual thing. Some breastfed babies only poo once a week or even less often.
Also, don't buy too much stuff in advance (ie think "oh that size 1 is on special that will fit this time next year" type of thing). I did this and my DS is 97th percentile for his height and consequently is too tall for some of the lovely clothes that I bought while I was still pregnant. And that holds true even now - he had (yet another) growth spurt and all these funky winter clothes I bought for him were too small in less than a month - his wrists were hanging out the sleeves and his head got too big for the neckholes! And whatever you do don't buy shoes. I had people buy me shoes for my DS for when he is a year old and at 9 months they are already 2 sizes too small for his giant flippers.
Hoping for another boy at some point so he can wear some of the clothes his big brother never got to wear lol!
My best advice would be don't buy too much more stuff until baby is born and if you find that you need more stuff it's easy to go out and buy it (more fun too). Don't forget you will get given a lot of stuff as presents too. I know how hard it is to resist all those cute little clothes - good luck!
oh Kimbaz! Have you seen those $2 singlets from Best & Less? With the words on the front of them? They are soooo cute!!! I bought some for my friend a little while back and nearly bought some for myself!!! :lol: it's so hard not too....

Yes bonds r small sizing.
Ashley was too small for 00000 at birth (5lb 13)
She wears 0000 now in pumpkin patch and target etc. bonds grosuits - 000.
We have heaps of 000 too - everyone seems to buy it as gifts however i wished i had more 00000 at birth though. it is hard to predict what size bub will b thou.
3 or 4 outfits in 00000 and 0000 should b fine and then you can go shopping later for the rest.
JulesR, my mum bought Lieby some shoes; they were for 3-6m, at 6w old his feet wouldn't fit in them. I'm pleased; babies need to not have shoes as their feet need to develop. It's why I don't use socks too much too.
Again with my mother, she bought Lieby an outfit without knowing his size, it's size 1, what I'm thinking may fit around October (autumn for us) and it's a pair of shorts! I only buy the jeans and t-shirt outfits in advance as you always need those. He's almost in the size 0 stuff now, he has a mix of long and short items as we're supposed to be in summer, only no-one told the weather that.
Well i think i will stop buying in that case... i don't have anything bigger than 000, and as some of you said earlier - even 000 seems to vary in size. I think i will just pick up two cardigan's and that really pretty going home outfit in 0000.... and that shall do until she is born. Atleast since i have almost everything in 000 nothing will be too small for her already i suppose, and once she does come and if she is swimming in them we can just buy some smaller ones.

It depends on how big your baby is, and how fast she grows. I needed more 00000 clothes when Annika was born, because she fit into them for ages. I ended up having to buy more, because she had reflux, and I was changing her heaps of times a day.
She was in 0000 for a fair while, and I found I did need them, because there is a fairly big size difference between 000 and 0000 IMO. I buy Annika's clothes mainly from target, so that may be why.
Annika still sometimes wears 000, but rarely. She's really inbetween sizes at the moment, because she is too small for a lot of 00 stuff.
The rule with bonds clothing is to always go one or two sizes bigger than what you actually need. They are so small! I end up buying the jumpsuits from Big-W, they're about the same price, but the sizing is better.
Not at all - just saying that for foot development shoes aren't needed. The odd wearing is OK, but shoe-free should make up the majority of the time. But I'm big on foot development as mine were majorly deformed due to the shoes I wore whilst my feet were developing - the only 12 year old I have ever heard of with bunions! So I'm anti-shoe to begin with. Most people are sensible with shoes so it's not an issue, I am just one of these people who either doesn't like something or is passionate about it, no in-betweens!
I'm anti-shoe for babies too which is probably why I never knew that his feet were already too big for them - they've been stashed in a drawer, out of sight, out of mind. I don't even buy bodysuits with feet in them because DS' giant feet won't fit in them. I put one pair of shoes on him once for a photo and he kept kicking me and it hurt so I took them off and he never wore them again lol!
But they are very cute for a special occasion or for a nice photo and I felt very wasteful when I realised DS had never got to wear them AT ALL. They are very good quality shoes too. Oops.
Grace was 3.5kgs when she was born and 50.5cm long. She wore a 00000 suit home - it was a summer outfit - and that is the only time she fit into that. She wore 0000 clothes for at least 6 weeks - a lot longer than I thought. In fact, the main reason that she had to move into 000 was that she was too long for the 0000. She is currently in a bit of an overlap phase, mostly 000 clothes with some 00 clothes. All-in-ones definitely require her to be in 00 as her feet are too long for 000! Everyone gave us 000, 00 or 0 as presents so we had to go and buy a heap of 0000 clothes after she was born so that she would have stuff to fit. Definitely go a size bigger in bonds stuff. I would buy most of the clothes after you child is born as then you will know what you need and not waste any money. I went nuts on neutral summer stuff in 000 as I was given the same advice not to buy 0000, it got too cold before she fitted into 000 so there is a heap of clothes that she never wore.
Yep i have a heaps of them... some had Princess on them and my freind went and put Chelsea Rose under them... soo soo cute:):
We have also started wearing shoes in the last 2-3 weeks... but only if we go out.. at home she has socks or is in clothes with feet.
It`s nice to have a tiny(00000) outfit for comming home in but they dont last very long.
My 2nd DS was 10lb 11oz so wore mainly 000 size clothes, and they grow so quickly.
I was at Best and Less today and I think it`s the best store around, and oh my goodness all the baby clothes... and they are sooo cute, I`m not pg yet but seeing all those little clothes make you so clucky. Personaly I dont see the point point spending heaps of money on expensive baby clothes thet they will grow out of soon when you can get just as cute if not more so at a fraction of the cost.
