Rubella Booster

When pregnant with Jesse i was told i may need a rubella booster. 40 was immune and under 10 wasnt immune.. My blood test showed i was 20.. which said may require a booster. Now ive just found out you cant TTC for 3 months after this booster! Is this correct? If so, do i really require a booster? Like, i dont want to put any future babies at risk but ehh 3 months! I wish i knew that earlier as i wouldve had the booster 6 months ago. Also does anyone know if you have to pay for the booster if your doctor bulk bills?

Yes you do need a boost - your result in unequivicol. Which means that you may have enough immunity or you may not. So, the decision is yours. It would be very stressful however if you came in contact with rubella and were not certain of your immunity status.

TTC prior to the 3 month recommended time may result in damage to your baby similar to that if you were infected by the virus.

I am not sure on the cost of the booster... :hug:

Ive just been trying to research it online and have only found things saying you have to wait 1 month? Just wondeirng what the difference is and why?

I really don't know why it would say only 1 month. I know that it is recommended 3 months.
But you should check with your obstetrician if you feel it could be a shorter time frame.

No worries. Thanks for the info Flowerchild. I think i will get it done.. as i know i couldnt live with myself if something did happen when i had the opportunity to make it right. Its a bit of a downer as we were actually TTC secretly now.. ahh well.. maybe its for a good reason we wait an extra 3 months.

I just went to the doctor today and he told me he wont give me the injection unless im on the pill! So i have to be on the pill a month before i can have it, then wait 3 months!!!! Soooooooo peeeed!

I'll be getting mine this week. Because I refuse to go on the pill (stubborn I am) I've had to wait till the middle of my cycle, so I can get a bt to confirm I am not pg, then I get to have it. I'll have the bt tomorrow. Can you ask for that instead? My dr said it's important to know that you are not pg before getting the booster.
At this stage, Heath and I are thinking of starting to try in December or January. If we start too early, there's too much of a chance of having both babies born in August!

I know im not pregnant atm as AF is here... so definately no worries, plus i tested a few days before AF and it was neg. Its a pain in the butt.. but guess i have to do it. Its something you cant risk.. and 4 months isnt more important that my baby's life. Everything happens for a reason, maybe there is a reason. And like DH said, its pushing me back to when i originally wanted to stat TTC anyways... so at least now ill know that Jesse will be that bit older, like i wanted him to be, and will be a little bit more independant. I think a 2 year age gap will be good. We still might just be Belly Buddies Jodi!!
