I just caught the end of this on A Current Affair tonight and honestly I have no idea why you would even get this done - is there is noticeable difference afterwards to make it worth it? has anyone ever done it or contemplating doing it?

My friend used to have it done until she was burnt by the implement and actually has a scar on her eyelid now!
As for the actual perm, yep it does make a difference, its like when you have them curled - your eyes appear more open, wider and bigger.
I wouldn't have it done as i don't like my eyes being touched and not with heat either! I also have massive eyes so it wouldn't do much for me.
Sherie, I saw it and found it just so amusing.
Doesn't it already cost enough to get manicure's, haircuts, hair colours, spray tanning and waxing without adding some other beauty service to the list.
My sister has hers done all the time when she has them tinted. To tell the truth I don't notice the difference, but she does.
I know people who've had them tinted different colours, but never heard of perms before.
i think you get the same result as if you use an eyelash curler- apparantly it's not too good for your lashes though as you are using chemicals so it can weaken the lashes- sort of like a normal perm can damage your hair. i reckon just use a curler- it only takes two seconds
i was getting mine tinted a while back and we were having a chat about it - the beauty therapist said she'd done the training but thought it a waste of time!
i have long long eyelashes that brush my glasses sometimes so maybe i should do it....
Nah!!! can't be bothered wasting the money! i'll just tint them now and again so that people can actually see them (they're such pale red they're almost blonde...)
I used to do eyelash perms in my salon - but stopped it years ago. It was great, but it was such a fiddly job. And about one in 7-8 wouldn't work. It was quite expensive to buy the formulas (as they are imported) and it takes about an hour to do the procedure.
It can look fantastic - and is the same as using an eyelash curler - but it lasts for months - and if you tint your lashes as well, that lasts longer. The thing is, lashes regenerate, so the curly lashes fall out and new lashes grow. At some point you end up having 1/2 straight and 1/2 curly lashes.
Eyelash perming was created in Asia because Asian women wanted a more "western" look. Their eyelashes are short and point downward. They look really good with perms.
You can buy heated lash curlers (which it sounds like Lux's friend used) - but this is just temporary curling. The salon procedure is very similar to perming your hair. The formulas even smell the same!
I didn't see "A current Affair" tonight - so I can't comment on that....
My tip: if you use eyelash curlers - give them a blast with a hairdryer before curling your lashes. The warmth makes your curl last a lot longer!!! Just make sure that if they are metal curlers, you don't get them too hot...
I obviously need to get out more LOL!
The thought of getting any sort of chemical that close to my eyes doesn't really do it for me - no matter how careful they were being.
they are chemicals.... but they are quite safe - otherwise it wouldn't be done.
Just as eyelash tints are a dye mixed with peroxide... quite safe. Funny enough, I read a peroxide bottle once that said you could use it as an eye bath! Don't think I would do that personally ;)
I used to get it done years ago at Parramatta. I loved the look as I dont have long eyelashes. MY DH has long eyelashes - how I envy him! LOL.
I used to have a little eyecurler - it was a heated stick run on a battery. They are good.
jsut thought i'd share that i have my eyeliner tattooed on! i'm mad i know. because of this i tint my eyelashes regularly and curl my eyelashes everyday with a curler, my sister gets hers permed and i cant tell, i personally like the curler better than perming but i have seen some ppl where it can look amazing.
I have extremely curly hair and eyelashes.... they curl like celery in iced water ROFL
