do i need to rinse it, as I would with basmati rice?
When in doubt I turn to my trusty bible - the cooks companion and I quote:
"Some cooks wash rice before cooking, other do not. Generally, packaged rice has already been washed and does not require further washing."
So, if you trust where the rice comes from I'd say that there is no further need to wash.
I always thought the rinsing thing was to do with the starch and brown rice being less starchy wouldn't need the extra rinsing.
