Concerned - not ovaluting at all during my cycles!

I am 27 and have been going to my local GP over the last couple yrs now since been diagnosed with PCOS. I had follow up ultrasounds and blood tests down recently.

I have been told from the report that I am haemorrage on the right ovary and that I do not ovalute at all during cycles. Can any one tell me if they have been through similar things then I am now?

I have been told that I will more than likely go on the drug metaformin. but I am still not sure whether this will fix the ovalution proplem having as I do want to have kids eventually but been worried could be too late with my age,etc

27 is not old! Geez - if that were so, I wouldn't be TTC now - I'd be too old!!!

Hemorrhage - does this mean that you get dysfunctional uterine bleeding? Do you get regular AF but no O?

I was diagnosed with PCOS 13 years ago. When I don't O I can get DUB, a delayed AF or no AF. I have other PCOS symptoms that go with the irregular AF.

Blood tests and ultrasound would not tell you whether or not you O at all. It would only tell you what was happening during the current cycle. How do you know that you do not O AT ALL?

I had blood tests and ultrasounds which showed that I was not O'ing AT ALL only to find out three weeks after the last test that I was three and a half weeks pregnant!! The tests actually missed when I Oed! They are not necessarily accurate! I have a son to prove it!

I take that you have been diagnosed with hyperinsulaemia. Most women (about 75%) with PCOS have this - I do not - so Metformin is of no use to me but there are women on this forum who have used it and may be able to answer your questions. I understand that some women are able to achieve O on Metformin. The other drug is Clomid which is used to induce O. Again, there are women here who have achieved successful pregnancies using Clomid.

Some women also find that lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise can keep PCOS in check - I am one of those. I find keeping within a healthy weight range and eating a healthy diet is really beneficial.

I have PCOS and don't ovulate on my own. For my first pg I conceived using Clomid. This pg my body didn't respond to Clomid so I was put on Metformin and FSH injections/IUI.

To see if you are ovulating you can have blood tests to monitor your hormone levels. Estrogen and your LH rise prior to ovulation and progesterone rises after ovulation.

A number of studies have shown that metformin assists women with PCOS to lose weight and particularly if diet, exercise and metformin are combined. Metformin increases the ovulation rate in women with PCOS when given alone or combined with clomid as it considerably reduces insulin levels.
