Omega 3 Question
Hi,
Does anyone have any information regarding Omega 3 and pregnancy?
My diet is pretty good. I eat fruit and veges and I eat chicken or beef 5-6 times a week. I don't eat fish (at all - ever - i hate it!!), and i know there is Omega 3 in grass feed animals but i don't eat lamb either, and most beef is grain fed. So, i don't know where else you get Omega 3 from, but i guess i don't get any in my diet.
I took Omega 3 capsules while TTC (I only took 2 x 1000mg caps, not 4 like they suggested), but my bottle has run out and i am wondering if i should be buying more.
I take Elevit, and TCM and acupuncture. It's all adding up and i don't want to take extra things that i don't really need.
TIA

Hi Jo, I asked a question about this in the Professional Support Panel a while back.
Oily fish is the best source of Omega 3. However you can also get it from:-
Nuts espacially wallnuts
Beans Especially soya beans
Flax seed
Leafy green vegetables
Canola oil
So if you include some of these (except the fish ;) ) in your diet anyway, you should be getting enough without having to take artificial derivatives in supplements. HTH

Oh that's good to hear, Sherie. Thank you!
I'd rather get it from my diet than adding supplements.
I can swap the peanut oil to canola, and buy a few walnuts and sprinkle them on my porridge (my new pg breakfast).
I like spinach, and eat the frozen stuff quite frequently.
So, maybe i'm not so bad after all.
Maybe being pg might make me like fish?? But probably not!!!

I think avocado is also rich in Omega 3?
My Blackmores supplements have a small amount of Omega 3, but I usually take an extra capsule of fish oil per day as well.
