Travelling by plane?
Hi everyone!
Hub and I have booked one week in Fiji.
I will be travelling in my 2nd trimester on the 28th Aug. I am 13 weeks now.
My question is.....
Is it really ok to fly/travel?
What precautions should I take or what should I be careful of.
I have read up on the net but wanted to hear of actual life experiences if anyone has any.
Thanks!

Hi there
it is ok to fly as long as you are otherwsie fit and healthy. Get a letter from a doctor to say eveything is ok.
most airlines will let you fly up until 36 weeks.
Buy some support stockings to protect you against DVT.
enjoy your trip

Hi there
With both my pregnancies I flew late (with DD 36 weeks from UK to Perth and with DS 37 weeks from Karratha to perth). I also regularly flew throughout both pregnancies.
It really is fine provided you are well, no high blood pressure or other complications etc. Drink lots of water and buy the support stockings. But other then that enjoy the flight and the holiday. :D

I regulary fly in the pregnancy due to family being in a different state and have no worries and my doctor is aware of my flights each time.

Hi, I just thought I'd let you know that when I was PG with DD I was planning a trip from Syd to Perth in my second trimester. I asked the doc if its safe to fly & he actually said that in your second trimester is the best time to fly because you're usually over your morning sickness & your bump usually isnt too big that it makes you uncomfortable.
So sit back & enjoy your trip! Sounds like its going to be a great one!! :)

I was a little worried too at first, by my obs assured everything was fine. He checked blood pressure etc. and said i should have no problems - just make sure you stretch your legs and walk around often. I will be 22 weeks when i go on my holiday - only 13 more days! YIPPEE. i hope you enjoy your time in the sun!!

Thanks for replies! I am so excited. Hub & I had planned a big America trip but found out I was pregnant. We agreed financially that trip was no longer possible but compromised on Fiji. I really need it, working fulltime still and all.
Enjoy your holiday and your pregnancy Nikki and Sonya!!!
