What is this?
At about 11am this morning I started to get some crampy feelings in my stomach. Thinking that it was due to the fact that I was hungry and had had a late breakfast, I thought nothing more of them (even though I'm due in two days). Gradually though, this pain started to intensify particularly at the top of my bump and made me feel very nauseous. This then led to me throwing up 5 times in the course of an hour and a half. Every time before I vomited my stomach would harden, the pain would radiate from the top of my belly, and I felt faint.
I haven't had my show, have only had an increase in CM over the last few days and a mild back ache.
Is what I have experienced pre labour? At the moment the pain has subsided a little, still a little crampy but definitely not like before.
TIA for any advice or comments.

Fran,
Apparently it is quite common for the body to "evacuate" as part of pre-labour.......anecdotally I have heard of lots of women who spew or get the runs as a part of the pre-labour.
Or it could be just a plain old runny tummy/ a touch of gastro, but your body, I think will almost instictively "harden" around your bump........(I was very sick just before Charlie was born, and I remember that hardening well!)
Can you all your Dr/midwife and see what they think?
Either way, you are close, so I wish you every positive labour vibe. xx

Thanks Lucy *hugs*...I'll see how I go tonight and tomorrow morning before contacting my ob. I'd feel like a real goose if it was just a touch of gastro...it had crossed my mind, but there were too many other things happening to my body that make me feel it isn't IYKWIM?
*fingers crossed* It's just the start of things to come!

Hi Fran
Well, while that doesn't sound like much fun - it definately sounds very promising.
I've never thrown up prior to giving birth - but I hear that it is common.
A few more hours will probably help you to know what is going on. Each time I go into labour it takes me a while before I know if it's the 'real thing' or just my body preparing. If the intensity of the contractions increases and the timing between contractions decreases - you'll most likely be on your way.
How are you feeling now?
xo Dee.

Hi Fran,
With my 2nd, I woke up at about 2am 2 days before EDD with really strong waves of pain. In my bleary state I thought it might be labour, but then realised that it was different from what I remembered and these pains were at the top of my belly.
I spent the next 3.5 hours sitting on the toilet 'evacuating', to put it nicely, and then lay down on the sofa to rest. Thinking that it would be just my luck to go into labour with no sleep, I felt my first real contraction at about 5.30am. DS was birthed at 8.49am!
Stimulating your bowels is often a suggestion to self-induce labour and it's also one of the ways your body can prepare itself for the coming event. In my case, who knows whether it was body getting ready, or a bout of gastro which in turn stimulated the contractions - chicken and egg!
Happy Birthing Vibes to you,
C

Fran, I hope the pains are positive but the throwing up goes away!! I can understand how confusing it is, I've een having lower back pain and nausea for a few days, and sometimes soft bowel movements, yet nothing for me yet!! I've kind of decided it's gas in my case, for your sake I hope your about to meet your little lady

Well today is a totally different day! No pains, no nausea and feeling fine (except for being a little tired) so who knows what happened yesterday! I'm definitely hoping that it was just part of the 'evacuation' process...unfortunately only time will tell!
