Hungry or upset tummy?
Hi All,
After some more advise here. Still getting the hang of reading DD's cries!
Today I fed DD at 9am, she had a decent feed. She then did a poop so I changed her and then I think I gave her a little bit of a top up. I then cuddled her where she did another poop. So I changed her and then cuddled her on the couch for a little bit. While I was cuddling her i felt and heard that her tummy was rumbling but she wasnt showing any hunger signs - was happy just looking around. DD eventually fell asleep in my arms so I put her in her bassinette. She slept maybe 30mins and is now awake again and not really showing any hunger signs.
So what you think, she is hungry or has an upset tummy? Could she have an upset tummy from having too much milk?
TIA

I would say she probably doesn't have an upset tummy from too much milk... babies tend not to overfeed themselves. Although perhaps she has wind which is making her uncomfortable?
The best way to see if she is still hungry is to offer her the breast again and see if she wants it?
With the tummy rumbling - this will not only be an indication of hunger or upset tummy, because everyone's gut actually makes rumbling noises nearly all the time - this is just normal movement from digestion.
It's really hard in these first few weeks to work out what is going on for your baby... you are doing a great job though Veronica! Let us know how things go...
(sorry I'm not more of a help, its been a while since I had a newborn!!)

I agree with Ambah. I had so many opions of feeding from the midwifes that in the end we just tried our own thing, like feeding her till she decided to stop, and it worked a treat. Just watch your baby and you will pick up on little things she does that signals what is wrong. Like sucking her fist when hungary, arching her back when she has wind etc.
I just have to say, she is so beautiful. Your a lucky girl.:babygirl:
I bet you are having fun picking out those clothes.

lol Ambah any help is great! You will soon remember all the newborn stuff tho!!
Well i offered DD another feed and she took it and fed for 20mins. She is kinda content now. Maybe it is wind, i know she has trouble bringing the wind up.
