I think it's quite normal. From what I hear you notice them much more in a 2nd pregnancy. I never even felt them last time, whereas I have felt them heaps this time around.

I had none for my first pregnancy but they started at about 18 weeks with this one. So yes, they are normal. But if they get more frequent in a short period of time, more intense etc, then you should probably ask your midwife.

Totally normal. I got them from 16wks with my first pregnancy and they were quite painful, which I wasnt expecting. This time round Ive just hit 16wks and been having them for around a week and they are more painful and noticeable this time around.

me too I'm almost 16 weeks now with my 3rd baby and i've been noticing BH for a couple of weeks now. They're just a bit uncomfortable and I notice I get flushed in the face after, I guess it's the blood rushing around.

I've had heaps this time round too and noticed them far earlier & much stronger sensation than in my first pregnancy. Perfectly normal! :)

thanks guys i definately feel more reassured. i am still getting lots of them but no longer worried.

Hey Nat,
I too have experienced this since about week 20. I looked it up as I have heard many a horror story about pre-labour. The signs to watch out for are:
Regular contractions - BHs are usuall irregular
Painful contractions - although sometimes they can be quite uncomfortable!
Pelvic pressure
Bleeding or discharge (watery or mucousy)
Contractions that don't go away if you walk, or if you sit down (if you have been standing)
Some girls that I know who went into pre-term labour had contractions that they didn't realise were contractions (one had back ache and the other just a tummy ache) but both had an unusual discharge which they disregarded. (both went full term by the way :))
Hope this sets your mind at ease, I know it certainly helped me!

I'm noticing them more today strangely enough. It feels a little uncomfortable but at least I know my body is doing what it should. I don't remember when I felt them during my first pregnancy.
