Which songs on the radio make you feel sentimental?

Being preggers makes me feel kind of sentimental - songs on the radio stir emotions and trigger memories more potently while I'm preg. Which songs have you heard lately on the radio that make you feel sentimental?
For some reason the 80's hits get me and some 90's ones too.....some recently played for example:
Howard Jones - I'd Like to Get to Know You Well
Spandau Ballet - True
Split Enz - Message to My Girl
Madonna - Like a Prayer
Wham - I'm Your Man

When I was pg, it was Father and Daughter by Paul Simon and Super Trouper - ok, odd choice, but the lyrics "And I'll be there/When you arrive/The sight of you will let me know I'm still alive" just got me welling up.

The one that gets me heading down memory lane is Always by Bon Jovi. It was the 'pash' song at high school and always the very last song played at the school disco's, hence the name LOL.

Other ones trigger bad moments for me, like Shania Twains 'I'm outta here' - came on in the middle of a casual 'episode' shall I say and it always sticks in my mind LOL - if it didn't have the line "if you're not in it for love ..... I'm outta here" in it I think I'd like it better ;)

Both Eskimo Joe songs "Black Fingernails, Red Wine" and "Comfort You". I had to go to London for two weeks to work back in March and HATED it. I missed DH so much I cried every night (I didnt tell him that) and I listened to the Eskimo Joe album almost the whole way home on the flight from London and now when I hear those songs, they just remind me of how much I love DH and how much I missed him while I was away (now I'm crying)! Needless to say, I fell pregnant a few weeks later .......

Janet Jackson's song "Together Again" makes me wanna cry... the words have so much meaning (Everywhere I go, Every smile I see, I know you are there smiling back at me) it reminds me of Noah... I love the song... even though I can't stand her.

The song "There you go" by Pink reminds me of breaking up with my Ex, and living on my own, with my kids for the first time ever. I love it because it reminds me of how strong I can be.

This time last year I was in the home stretch to giving birth to my girls.

I was confined to the lounge for the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy and only went out for my OB appointments,scans or tests.

I bought the CD by Augie March and was obsessed by the song "one crowded hour".This was my pregnancy song.Every time we hopped into the car we would play it so it became my pregnancy anthem and reminds me of my girls.

I am very bad with music, but there is one song that ALWAYS makes me cry. I don't know the artist or the songs name (bad with music), but it's a father singing about his little girl. He sings:
"of all the things I done wrong, I must have done something right. To recive hugs every morning and butterfly kisses at night"
Tearing up just thinking about it. It's really precious words

Nadine thats butterfly kisses, an absolutley gorgeous song. My dad and I danced to it at my wedding.

One song is "With arms wide open" By Creed.
Thats my daddy and son song in my head when my DS was born.The whole song is great with so much meaning. I love the music and bit where it goes...

You know how when you're in love, just about every song seems like it's about your relationship? Recently it seems like I read into a bunch of songs stuff about birth! Too funny.

I like Missy Higgins 'Steer'
" ....the city screams, and all you dreams go unheard ....

I thought that was about VBAC!

And this one got me all teary, I thought it was a cool birth anthem:

And this one for a friend about to have a baby who was feeling a bit apprehensive (as you do):

Makes me all emotional and I can't even blame pregnancy hormones! Music does that to me, that's why music was a huge part of my birth experiences. Marshmellow mummy that's me.

atm i absolutely love the john butler song 'better than' cos it's all about enjoying the moment and realising what you've got and how lucky you are. it makes me stop and 'take stock'of what's going on in my life at the moment- i am with the love of my life and we're about to have our first baby together. it's a really special time so that song always make me smile and think about that. one time i was driving in my car, stopped at the traffic lights and looked in the rear view mirror as a car pulled up behind me, and just as that song came on the radio realised it was dp in the car behind me. i knew he would be listening to it too and it made me smile..

The Rob Thomas song 'Little Things'. I wanted it on my CD while I was in labour but my computer wouldn't burn it for me :( I was taken into theatre though as my bub got stuck and needed to be vaccuumed out and they had the radio on... a few minutes after Oscar was born this song came on the radio! I burst into tears and just as that happened I had my first cuddle of my beautiful little boy... (now I am crying again!)

That is so special, Danielle! What a wonderful memory. I know what you mean - that happened to me a couple of times, too - the first song after the birth being one that had special significance. It was the timing as much as the song that had me bawling.

Hey Berry, this is a GREAT thread!
There are SO many songs that I love and that touch my heart.
Whenever there is something I am going through, ther is ALWAYS a song that I can associate with it.
Really there are too many to name for me but
Dixie Chicks Godspeed is one that always has me howling.

I have to say that Robbie Williams' song "Angel" is emotionally stirring, particularly as it was used as a soundtrack on the Saving Babies documentary
