Ali, not myself, but one of my very close girlfriends had preeclampsia when she was pg with her DD (who has just turned 3!).
She was only 30 weeks pg, the preeclampsia set in, she was whisked off to hosp for observations, her BP rocketted again, and she had an emergancy c-section 24 hours later. Her baby girl was, understandbly, very prem at only 30 weeeks, but is now a thriving and sturdy little 3 year old who is adorable.
I know my GF was not so much phased by the emergancy c-section (as she just wanted everything to be OK for her DD) but she did feel "guilty" for not getting to at least 38 weeks.
She has since gone onto have her DS just recently and made it to 40 weeks no problem, which has made her feel all together better about the her daughters early start.......
Not sure if that helps any? How are YOU feeling about it all? Please feel free to ask away.......there is a wealth of experiecne on these Bellybelly boards, and the girls are all very supportive.
Take care, and I wish you all the best.........
Hi Alig I had preeclampsia late in my pregnancy with my twin girls although I had a normal birth I was mentaly prepared for a c-section earlier in my pregnancy which sometimes can be the case with twins.
How far along are you? I know the only way to stop PE is to deliver the baby.
thanks lucy, still getting my head around it even though my bub is 5 mths now, past 5mths been a bit of a blur, just trying to make some sense out of things. Went to antenatal clinic at the hospital for 37 week check-up was feeling a little bit off, blood pressure was 195/135 next min i've got catheter shoved in, magnesium drip and injections and off to surgery, lucky i was so fluidy i could not drive so dh came from work and took me for app or he would have missed it.
ali'g you sound like you were very luckey to have had a check up that day as a BP like that could have caused you to fit which can be life threatning to you and baby.
Did you have any headaches, swelling or visual disturbances??
To feeb, Hi i had been having headaches, numbness from swelling and had silver and black flecks in
vision in waiting room, kept needing toilet noticed face very red seen doc and in straight away, urine test showing protein for first time all pregnancy.
i did shared care and was ****ed off with gp as for about 6 weeks I was complaining about bad pain under ribs and had heartburn so terrible gaviscon ,rennie ect didnt do any thing had to sleep totally upright and also complaining about fluid but he didnt bother with me as my bp was 120/90 and no protein in urine. Had complications after birth which wasnt explained to me, all gp said at post birth checkup was "you were lucky" . Good thing is my beautiful baby girl was born in time healthy.
pain under ribs and heartburn another symptom of pe.
With all of that he should have sent you to hospital for a pih (preg induced hypertension) assessmemt which would have include wee and bloods!!
next preg i would recomend u dont do shared care tht u be in a high risk clinic at hospital
The hospital said next pregnancy I automatically go into high risk clinic, so I wont be going to my gp. Thats if there is another one - jury is still out on that one!!!!!!
You will go back but it will take time for you to decide that one.
Next time you will be closely monitered and will have wee tests at EVERY appt and at slightest rise in BP wthey will put you on medications to stabilise BP, if it is not controlled they would deliver you earlier. Much less stressful for you and more relaxed
Not usre about what hopsital policy is where you are going but most places will let you try for a normal birth if that is what you would like otherwise you can have a elective cs.
If you try for a normal and bp goes up an epidural can help with that
Thanks for replys, time will tell, I have pnd anxiety and have just gone on meds, 2 weeks ago and am hoping once they kick in I will be back to normal and start enjoying wy baby!
oh you poor thing you have had a bad run of probs!!!
Good luck with it all
Hugs
thanks feeb,
Hi ali'g',
I noticed your post here, sorry to hear you had a rough trot and I noticed you posted trying to get into the Depression and Anxiety groups. I am sensing you need to debrief about your pg and birth of your child? You can post about the birth debrief and be assured your will not be 'judged' (if you are mods will step in), this may help until you can join those groups.
My BP stayed high for 6 months after I had the girls and I was on meds for it.I will have to go on meds next pregnancy just in case.
Sounds like you've had a rough trot ali'g,I hope things get better for you.BB is a wonderful supportive community anytime you need advice or to vent there's lots of us here for you....
thanks for support joolshere and pansy, would like to vent but didnt want everyone to see, am struggling to talk to my counciller about stuff, dont know how to do private messege
I can understand about wanting to debrief and not wanting everybody to see, i feel the same about issues I had when trying to breastfeed. I guess I don't have the 'guts' to post yet. I am not sure about the pm'ing either, I haven't tried it.
I started counselling on Monday...
How are you feeling now?
hey joolshere, felt good to post about birth, am on zoloft 50mg 2 1/2 weeks but forgot to take tablet about 3 or 4 times not in a row though, havent really felt any less anxious, but I don't think it happens overnight. I'm not nauseus but i'm on motillium to keep milk, but my sleep is a lot worse, my counciller said it's normal, but it's wearing thin about now, just laying low til meds kick in hoping to end my sleep deprevation so other things are not so hard to fix.
