Hello...
I am new here and have joined as my DH and I are just about to have our first appt with a fertility specialist (repromed). We have been trying since July last year, I am 25 and DH is 26. We have not used chemical birth control for over 5 years, I charted to prevent pregnancy in the past. I am an only child as my mother was never able to have any more children.
The last 12 months, as I am sure you all know and understand, has been an emotional roller coaster. The decision to go to repromed was one of the hardest of my life, but I feel ready now to make this move.
I had a lap, hyteroscopy(spelling?), dye studies and D&C in May, a little bit of endo was found but nothing major. DH had a SA and that was passed. I have short, irregular cycles with long periods and react VERY badly to synthetic hormones, the reason I cannot take the pill.
So here I am needing a little support from others who understand...and am of course ready and willing to give support. Look forward to getting to know you all and sharing this journey.

Hi Heki,
Welcome to BB! I'm new too and since joining spend most of my free time here reading up on things I might need to know.
It sounds as though we are at similar stages of our journey- my FS appointment is 13th September (the wait is killing me!). DH and I have known about my PCOS for 18 months, although have only been TTC for a couple of months. We know we require assistance and are very excited to get things happening!
When is your appointment with FS?
All the best and I look forward to sharing our journeys!

Thanks for the warm/supportive welcome! It's great after months of feeling pretty alone. It's especially great to see that quite a few of you are a similar age to me. I have had a few people try and tell me that I am too young to be having trouble falling pregnant (I know this is just ONE of many factors, but it's still upsetting at times). I have been reading through a lot of the topics to get my head around what may be to come in the near future
Snap! Peekay, our original appt. was for the 13th too..but has been changed to the 7th as our first FS is on extended sick leave. I have been on the biggest high since it got changed as its just that little bit closer!
-
Wow what a coincidence! I wish mine gets changed to a time that's sooner. The wait is killing me

Just popping in to say that your good luck with your appointment being brought forward has insipired me to ring up and try my luck with cancellations :crossfingers:
-
Hehe You should have seen me the day I got the phonecall! The girl at the clinic kept apologising! I could have kissed her I was that excited!
peekay-Good Luck with cancellations, I mean they reckon that lots of women get pg once they make that first appt...In fact I know of 2 myself! We can only hope, for them and for us.
-
Well just called and they are "putting me on the cancellations list".
Fingers and toes are crossed!

I have my fingers and toes crossed for you!
I just got off the phone from my private health fund and I am in their words "completely covered for assisted reproduction and pregnancy" not that it's gonna be free or anything but at least it's not going to kill us...was not looking forward to re-morgaging the house!
Well I guess all we can really do is wait...should be used to that by now!
GOOD LUCK with the cancellation list!

Great news Heki!
My health fund covers pregnancy and obstretics, but not assisted reproduction (was not expecting to need it!). Am thinking of upgrading our health cover, but I'm not even sure if our provider (MBF) covers it at all. Will have to investigate.
Thanks for the good luck...

Welcome to BB Heki!
I can honestly say that this is the best site.
B4 I found it, I too felt very lonely as no-one I knew had infertility issues. Its amazing what you can learn here and everyone is very supportive.
In relation to your qns re: too young to start - age is relative. Not too long ago, 26 would have been regarded as 'over the hill' for reproduction - my mum had all 4 kids by the time she was 26.
These days with more people delaying reprod, alot of people do not discover they have fertility issues until its getting alittle too late.
I think you have started exploring your options at the perfect time.
Cheers

Welcome to BB. I am fairly new here also. I was feeling really alone until I found this place. I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.
