Hi, Sorry to hear you are sick. If you are told by you ob that its ok for a cold to take panadols, it should be fine to keep your temp down too. I took panadols during my first pregnancy. It was for headache though.
If you are worried ring "nurse on call": 1300 60 60 24

Did your ob test you for a urinary tract infection?????
I had one recently that I didn't know I had, and ended up in emergency. Apparently during pregnancy you don't get the usual symptoms like needing to pee all the time, burning when you do etc. Symptoms can include flu like aches and pains, temperature (mine was up to 41 degrees by the time I got to hospital), vomitting, they are really really nasty so please if you get worse see your doctor and get them to test your urine.

Sounds exactly like the sickness I've had this week :( I found a very cold facecloth on my head helped get my fever down, along with taking a day off work and sleeping! Possibly not an option for everyone!

thanks for the advice girl!!
Temp is now back to normal! 36.8 !! woohoo! i did a face cloth with water/vinegar.. (my mum's old remedy) and had a tepid shower! and I'm all good now!!

fever
My temperature is going up and down from 37.8 to 38.8 since yesterday. I came home from work went to bed at 3pm and apart from getting up for toilet trips I slept until 11am the next day - total exhaustion.
I have a nasty chest cough and ache all over - can't face food. I also have a blotchy red rash all over my belly and chest and have been sick this morning. I'm 33 weeks pregnant.:-(
My midwife said to see my GP immediately but I tried three practices and can't get in for an appointment unless I ring tomorrow morning, even though I explained the situation. I don't live in the metro area so am a bit limited in terms of where I can go.
I got online just to find out if paracetamol is ok. Tepid shower worked for a bit, but I've just actually just taken a panadol as I'm really scared for the baby. I'm probably being a bit irrational, but it just makes me feel like even if you are really really worried about something that is happening, help isn't really available from the places you turn would expect to turn to.
Rant over. Sorry for offloading but maybe it will bring my fever down. ;-)

Noobie,
paracetamol is fine to take. i am just getting over a nasty chest infect which gave me a temp for a no. of days. i found if i used a wet wash cloth and placed it on my forehead it helped. i dressed lightly though was sure not to get too cold as if you start to shiver etc your body temp will only rise. I was lucky and managed to get in to see a GP (not mine he was busy) and was put on antibiotics. Do you have any sort of after hrs GP or emergency dept that you could go to?? When myDD is unwell and i cant get her in to my GP i often go to our after hrs gp. it is 1st come 1st seen too etc and the wait can be a pain but worth it for peace of mind. Hope you are feeling better.

Paracetamol (panadol) is ok to take when pregnant

Thanks for the reassurance.
Managing with paracetemol since yesterday afternoon seemed to stabilse my temperature, but then at 5am this morning I was at 39.9 which was scary. I took another paracetemol and that brought the temperature right down and seems to broken the fever as I woke up later all gross and sweaty. ;-)
I managed to get a doctors appointment today due to a cancellation and have been prescribed Amoxycillin because I now have quite a bad chest infection. I can't help being paranoid about what all this does to the baby but I certainly don't want to get any worse.

Don't worry it will not harm your baby. A common side effect of thia drug is diarrhoea, Also keep an eye out for thrush, a common problem when taking any antibiotic

Thanks Allan, I'm sure there is a "paranoia" hormone in pregnancy that makes us think that *everything* harms the baby. ;-)
Sounds like a few lovely side effects there to add to the joys of pregnancy.
Thanks again for being the voice of reassurance.
