Dialation
Yesterday I had my dr appt. I am 6d overdue today. I had a s+s and I was told that I am 2cm dialated and my cervix is thin. The dr seems to think that he'll see me before my induction date, 23rd Aug (a whole nother week away!).
How long can it take to go into labour, or have your water break from here?
Also, can I be 2cm dialated and then have it contract, and no longer be anything dialated?
Please baby come soon!

Try massaging your belly with sweet almond oil with a few drops of Clary Sage essential oil added. It just might do the trick and kick things off!

I thought Clary Sage was not recommended until you are actually in labour??? I have a massage oil for labour that has CS and it says definately don't use it until labour has started, and my doula says the same thing?
But maybe being a couple of cm's already technically is classed as labour?

Hi Rhianon,
I know a girl who just her bubs on Wednesday and she was 3cm dilated for a week and a half with nothing happening... she was induced the Wednesday morning.
BUT with that said you are further than she was so fingers crossed something happens soon!!

Hey scone
i am assuming this is ur 1st baby?
if you are 2cms already, with a nice thin cervix that is fantastic! :D
no, your cervix cannot contract back...but only open up and up ;)
be patient...I know its hard...but your body is getting ready and you are so close...and when you do go into labor it will be easier as your body has taken the time to be as fully prepared as it can
try visualising your cervix opening...perhaps a colored ribbon, like a purse string, slowly releasing...or a rosebud gently opening. Talk to your baby, encouraging words...its pretty daunty for them too.
Things to help get the ball rolling
reflexology...qualified practitioner, and they can stimulate points to help balance your hormones
acupuncture...as above
chilli...stimulates the bowel and then the uterus (not too much tho:))
positions to get the baby's head down to stimulate the cervix...squatting and all 4's or walking
sex...prostaglandins in semen help soften the cervix and orgasm stimulates release of oxytocin (that hormone that stimulates the uterus into action with contractions)
good luck!
