If you want a decent one, they hold their value really well so expect to pay a fair bit for them. The retail new at $49,990 for the very base model without onroad costs, so you're up to nearly $55k before you drive away. Check out countrycars website and have a look around.
Hey soul we were going to get a tarago too but DH came across the Mitsubishi Delica, and you can get them with way lower Klms and heaps cheaper and you have the advantage of having botha the van with a nose and a 4wd. The tarogos we looked at in our price range had well over 100,000 klms compared to the Delica which our first one we got with only 52,000 klms on the clock and our second (updated model) we got with only 30,000 and you can get that for arond $16,000 to $20,000 for around a 97 model!
Hope this helps
wow that sunds good! Thank you both for your help!!!
I am wanting something that will be easy to get in and out of the shopping centers but comfortable to be in for hours if we go on a holiday, kwim? Dont ask for much do I?
Hey soul i can tell you as long as you dont get the high top in a delica you can get under car parks and in car washes etc..... Our last one wasnt a high top but this one is, and we havent measured to see if it will go through car wash or anything yet so jsut do it by hand!
As for comfort for long distance this definately has that! We travel 6 hrs at Christmas time for our hols and the kids never complain! Plenty of leg room for those long legged teenagers and i have even sat in the back just to make sure it is comfy for all! I highly recomend you to check out a few sites with them and even go to a car dealer that have them and go for a drive.
Our last one was a manual deisel and this one is a v6 auto petrol and both have been good for economy and both have the grunt to tow and speed if its needed!
Good luck i love doing the car hunting thing!!!
Heya Katstribe,
I had never heard of the Mitsubishi Delica I just had a look and they are really nice, we are planning to have atleast one more child if not 2 and want to get a big car fairly soon and they look great, my only question is whats the boot space like can you fit your shopping in and the pram without to much hassle??? I only ask casue we have looked at quite a few different cars and all of the 7 or 8 seaters dont have much room in the boot for the pram etc. thanks
Check out the Kia Carnival for sure. I bought one last month and I am RAPT with it.
$15,300 got me a 7 seater 5 speed man (I hate autos) with fully removable seats, arm rests, drinks trays, 4 anchor points, air con with seperate front/back controls...the list goes on - it's like a bloody first class airline in the back. Even better it's gun metal grey with dark tinted windows and nice rims so I get to look like a bit of a rock star.
Full service history, cd player elec windows. It only had 89,000 on the clock, its' a 2002 model I think.
Hi Amym
Well I have a three wheeler pram ( soon to begetting a double) and its not too bad we have manged many times when we took all the kids shopping, you soon learn the pram goes in first and the big square stuff goes on the bottom and work your way up! DH usually does ours but i have had to do it and i have done it no worries! I still reckon i want to get one of those nets that you can sling across the back to hold it all in even beter. Also if you get a long wheel base you have heaps more room too!!! We wanted the long wheel but didnt find one with 8 seats!
Anyway i hope this helps some.
Cheers
Kat
Lulu2 r u kidding me???????????????? omg is that all???? $15,000????????? oh wow
Hey Soul - check out the other thread in the Product Recommendation section. Lots more info
Hey Katstribe, we are looking at getting a delica, we haven't had a test drive yet.
Is there heaps of room inside?? We go away alot so need heaps of room inside. They seem really good value for money.
Hi all girls yeah i think there is plenty of room in them. You can move the seats in the middle to create more room on either side of them. If you can get a long wheel base one they have even more room in the back behind the back seats. But even with a short wheel base i think there is enough room. Then also depending on if you get a 7 or 8 seater. The 7 seater has captain chairs and has heaps of room everywhere!!!
Hope this helps a little.
