Hi ladies,
Just wondering if anyone knows/has info on the safety of cream fake tan usage during pregnancy?
I have a bottle of the Dove lotion - the gradual tanning one. Today I got the shock of my life when I discovered how white my legs are, its 27 degrees here today and long pants is not very comfortable!
I don't ever tan in solariums or outdoors, fanatical about sunscreen, so am hoping I might be able to go fake!

I love a spray tan but I never get one when I'm pregnant. Looks like it's whitey white for me for a while!!
There is lots of conflicting advice on this one! Like the question of whether you can dye your hair or not. I read somewhere that there isn't enough study done on tanning creams and lotions so if you want to be really cautious, don't use it. I also read that you can use it as it only goes onto the top layers of your skin and therefore doesn't penetrate far enough to cause problems for bub. Personally, I used it a couple of times and my children are fine. And its the gradual Dove brand, so I doubt it'd be potent enough to cause problems? But if you are really worried maybe check with your Dr before using it!
I use the Johnsons and Johnsons one as I also read that it doesnt penetrate deep enough to get into your bloodstream. I will continue using it too until the sun is hot enough to do the job.
i asked my OB about creams in general and she said not to overdo anything but that topical solutions like these are highly unlikely to have an effect at all on bubs, as they dont enter your bloodstream. so i would think something mild like this would be ok. personally i have been careful but thats more bc my skin has been v sensitive all preg.
stay out of the sun when you are preg though, your skin is much more sensitive to the sun.
Im a fake !! I St Tropez (mousse) all the time, esp my face. Gets harder as your pregnancy progresses though, there are places i just cant reach.
As long as you dont EAT the product, i cant see there being a problem....
Thanks everyone! I mostly just want to use it on my lower legs, and getting around in 3/4 tights with those baby doll tops, so its just that bit of glow in the dark white leg showing I'd like to tan, my arms are naturally a bit more brown.
Spray tans are the ones you need to be careful of as the overspray goes up your nose and in your mouth. The creams do only go into the superficial layers.
I use the Le Tan Extra Dark cream and it works a treat. The most fantastic natural color and it doesn't send you looking REALLY dark either. I used it during my first pregnancy too.
PS...I find the Ambre Solaire range makes you look carrotty.
