My first Pregnancy
Hello,
I noticed there are no current discussions, so thought I might start one. I am 5 wks pregnant (very early) and this is all new to me. Although I am incredibly excited, I am also nervous. Not knowing what to expect. Although I have been given a book, have signed up to internet sites, and my mother-in-law has given me a fantastic pregnancy calender. I still feel like I dont know anything.. But at the same time, I wouldnt change anything. I am so happy we are having our first baby and looking forward to experiencing everything.
So far I have been experiencing exhaustion with working full time and slight nausea as well as painful breasts (i wouldnt want to go for a jog or anything!) But its all worth it to be in this situation

Hi Jess
Welcome to BB. Pregnancy, especially a first pregnancy can be quite scary. There are many people here who will be willing to answer any of your questions. Also do not think that your question is silly or stupid. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask. If it is playing on your mind just post it in the forums, someone will soon answer.

It is a bit all daunting. I am 4 wks preg with our 6th and last child and its still nerve wracking knowing what you are going to go through in 9 months time.
Enjoy it for what it is and try not to think about it too much. It is a lot of fun and lots and lots of memorable moments I can assure you.
Hubby will be getting the snip after this one so I am going to enjoy every moment as this will be our last child. Bit sad really but you have to set limits :D
Ask heaps of questions and always be prepared for plans to change at the last moment. I am more talking about birth plans etc. Always keep an open mind and you wont have any probs.
Relax and Enjoy cause it does go by fast.

Jess - fristly, congratulations! It's perfectly normal to feel excited and terrified simultaneously...
What book/s have you got? The absolute best book I had with my 1st pregnancy was Up the Duff by Kaz Cooke. It tells you everything you need to know but in a way that makes you laugh and feel good, rather than scaring you. I think it should be compulsory reading for every first-timer!I've just found out (yesterday) that I'm pregnant again, so I sat down last night and reread certain bits as a reminder.

jess, just wanted to say congrats
im 5wks pregnant with my 2nd baby and still nervous as anything. i have a book called birth, but i have had some good things about the book up the duff by kaz cooke, i think i may have to get a copy. so have you started having cravings or anything, i have but i think its way too early, i was craving mustard the other day, normally it makes me wanna puke. i work full time as well, cake decorating, its exhausting. feel free to send me a message sometime, it would be nice to have someone close in pregnancy weeks to myself. i cant wait for everything the next 8 months has to bring.:D

Thanks
Thanks so much for all your relpies. It is so nice to have support and well wishes. It is a very exciting time. My sister gave me a book called "Help - I'm having a baby" and said I should get "What to expect when you are expecting". But will keep an eye out for "Up the Duff by Kaz Cooke". But I am keeping an open mind about everything. And not making any big decisions just yet. I cant believe how tired I am though. I just went bra shopping with my sister and now it's only 6pm and can hardly keep my eyes open! Everything takes so much more effort. :)
I think I am going to go for a sleep

I found the What to Expect books a bit scary and judgemental personally, although I know others who think it's great. (For example, I had such bad ms that I even struggled to keep water down let alone food, and that book said something like if you don't eat such and such every day you're "not giving your baby the best start in life". You can imagine how that made me feel! After all, I wanted to eat lots of vegies etc, it's just they always came back up!!

Congratulations Danielle! This is such an exciting time for you and your partner. Nerves are all apart of I guess. I am a big stress head when it comes to pregnancy and baby, but it only cuz we want the best for our babies! :)
Good luck with your pregnancy journey. Take care

Hey Hun congrats. Just wanted to say congrats and i hope you have a happy and healthy pregnanct. Enjoy every moment of it. I am 7 weeks pregnant and just started to get a bit of ms but even sitting with my head in the toilet bowl i love because i knwo that there is a tiny human being growing inside of me. I know how you feel with the tired thing, i get home from work and have no energy to to anything. Even at work i feel very tired but i guess that all part of this amazing journey. Congrats hun enjoy the next 9 months :)

Hi Jess,
I'm 6wks 3 days pg (1st pregnancy too) & the nausea has kicked in! I have been tired for the past few weeks & extremely bloated (i reckon I already look 12wks pg with the bloating), but yesterday the ms hit me like a tonne of bricks. Funnily enough, I'm actually not sick in the mornings, I'm sick from about 2pm onwards. I haven't vomited at all, but sure as hell feel like it. AAAEERRRR..... not a nice feeling at all.
At about 5pm tonight, I really felt like roast vegies & gravy, so I pulled myself up off the couch, cooked dinner & now that it's ready, I so don't feel like eating it! Geez I hope this doesn't last too long. I hope you can escape it - some do, some don't. I thought I was going really well until yesterday!
Good luck and any questions, I'll see if I can help you out! We can compare notes. hahahahaha....
