Making PUL covers
Anyone got any hints for me. I was very disappointed with my first effort :( It just seems so loose around the legs etc. I got my supplies from bubba earth so figured the FOE and touch tape should be the best for nappies. I do think I need to pull the elastic a bit tighter when sewing.... Also the touch tape is majorly grippy and in the wash sticks to everything, unlike my BBH covers
Also I was just making my own pattern from other covers, is there a better pattern out there?? It's to cover baby beehinds nappies.

Maybe you need to change the stitch your using when putting the FOE on. Aslo make sure your stretching it heaps on the area's you want it to bunch.
As for patterns, I would just copy the BBH PUL cover.. Also laundry tabs for your TT might help when your washing it.

Thanks FIonaJill :D
I will try stretching it more next time.

girls just noticed this thread so thought i'd add a question!! (didnt want to start a new thread for such a small question)
when applying the velcro hook and loop, does it matter which part of the fitted nappy the hook goes on and which one the loop goes on? i was just goingto put the "rough" side on the tummy side and the"soft" side of velcro on the part that pulls around over the tummy part lol does that make sense?? hahaha
FJ? do you know? please tell me it doesnt matter which one goes where lol

Renstar - from what I've been thinking myself, it depends on yourself! Having the loop on the tummy gives more loop for the hooks to grab to to size it properly, having the hook on the tummy does the same, but the hooks will be catching on everything else too .... but I'm no expert!
-
Kazbah I think you're right there. If you have the hook on the tummy bit you will have clothing snagged on it.
-
i would put the soft loops across the tummy. The least amount of the hook bit the better!
-
ok thanks girls! so the soft loops across the tummy facing away from bubs (obviously) and the hard hooks on the bit that pulls across :D thank you will try that.
-
Don't forget some soft loops next to your hard hooks so you can fold it over in the wash to stop it from snagging on things :)

aw thats a great idea FJ! i cant do this until Sat :D cant wait to get back into it.
you've been so helpful. im sure there are millions of questoins to go as i'm only just learning!

Hmmm. I think I need to make some, but facing the other way :D
