Heartburn
Morning everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has a miracle cure for heartburn? I had no heartburn at all with DS but this time around I'm getting wicked heartburn almost every night, I even get woken up sometimes overnight with horrid burning acid in my mouth! I pop Rennie chews but they don't work for very long and they are so nasty they make me gag.
Please, any advice??

personally i just about live on rennie tablets (i don't like the chewy ones though) - they are the only thing that works for me (they only contain calcium and magnisium and are perfectly safe to take while pregnant). indigestion sucks, and i get it so bad during pregnancy.
but i know there are some other products out there, maybe you should ask a chemist.

I had really bad heartburn for both pregnancies and the only thing that gave me slight relief was really cold milk, ice cubes and sleeping virtually sitting up. If you have it bad I really dont think anything works - sorry. I was in a lot of pain to the point I was thinking twice about having # 2. One good thing is the minute you deliver the heartburn is gone.

I had heartburn something shocking!! Almost everything I ate ended up giving me heartburn. Chocolate was problematic!
I ate Mylanta tablets all day. I prefered them to the Rennie. I thought Rennie had a yukky texture. The Mylanta werent too yukky and I believe they have a mint flavoured one. It did give relief but it sometimes didnt last long. Milk also helped so I definately got all the calcium I needed, lol.
Sometimes at night I had to sit up for a while after eating. I found that if I ate then lay down soon after, the heartburn would be so much worse.

I drink about 2L of chocolate milk a day and live off cheese and yogurt and rennies, the choccy milk helps the best

Drinking milk definitely helps, but I found I had to drink it a few hours before bed - right before bed can sometimes make it worse.
If you eat later like us (7.30 - 8.30pm)I found that adding coconut milk to any food I could really helps- it means I can make a nice spicy curry for DH and just add some coconut milk to mine and still enjoy a milder taste but with a bit of spice still.
Any fizzy drinks, even the smallest sip of carbonated water also makes mine worse and citrus juices.

Hi Krisp
It doesn't matter what I eat or drink I still end up with indigestion.
My Ob prescribed some medication for me which I take in the morning and at night. I also take the rennie but not the chewy ones, the other type. And my biggest help is fruit tingles. I buy these in bulk and I swear they are the best lol.
Hope you get some relief soon :D

ive been munchie on rennies eft right and centre! but found a glass of milk before bed time helped and also now on Zantac 24hr releif tablets, bought from the chemist but approved by my OB first. You only need 1, max 2 per day and they have made a huge difference to me. otherwise i'd be waking countless time per night chocking on my own acidy vomit yukkkkkk

Hi Krisp
try this...
Adhomukha Virasana (Downward facing hero pose, arms extending to chair, or up wall)
2-3 minutes.
This modification is useful from 28weeks, allowing the ‘opening’ of the rib cage, facilitating the intake of breath and inflation of the lower lobes of the lungs, and reducing pressure on the diaphragm.
• Sit back on your heels, big toes together, and knees slightly wider than your hips
• If using the wall position yourself about 20cm’s away from the wall
• Attempting to keep your buttocks sitting on your heels, stretch the arms forward and up to the chair or wall
• Open the chest, and relax the shoulders down, and away from the ears
• Keep the arms shoulder width, spread the fingers, flattening the palms
• Rest the forehead to the wall, or rest the head between the upper arms (if using the chair)
if you click on my link...this will take you thru to my web page and I have a picture to go with this pose (pregnancy yoga page, scroll down the bottom to 'for you to try')

Wow Mako, I have the complete opposite effect with fruit tingles, so envious! My only craving has been for fruit tingles but they just make the heartburn worse. Must be all of the ascorbic acid. Still doesn't stop me scoffing them though, it's sooo catch 22.
Your EDD is the day before mine - how are you feeling (apart from the heartburn)?

Personally I take Rennie tablets. They seem to work with me anyway
