Giving the bottle away
HI
Just wondering when your baby started to say no to having a bottle. My DD is 17 months old and she only has a morning bottle and a night one. Lately she wont drink the night time one at all. I have been giving her milk in a cup before she goes to bed and she drinks some of it and seems content.
Is this a normal age to be giving the bottle away?

I think it really varies Sheba. Zander was only having a night bottle from around 18 months, then we got rid of it completely 2 weeks ago at 2 1/2. I think though it was more me trying to hang onto my baby for a bit longer though ;) If she's ready to ditch it I'd do it.

Alex hasn't had a bottle since he was 2 but still drinks milk in a cup at night.

hi Sheba
Archie only had one bottle before bed from 10 months, i chucked all the bottles in the bin when he was 13 months old and he wasn't worried in the slightest, for a couple of months he refused to drink milk out of a cup so i just made sure he got plenty of dairy in his foods, now he drinks milk anywhere any how any time.

Olivia and Charlie had their "bottles in the bin parties" on their 2nd birthdays.....they both happily drank from cups way way before then, but I was happy to let them continue to have night time bottles for the cosy comfort routine.
Now they have the exact same routine with warm milk from a cup instead. Both "gave up" the bottle no problem.
So if your daughter is content with warm milk from a cup, go for it!
I think "they" say 12 months to get rid of the bottle (Robin Barker who wrote BabyLove for example recommends 12 months) but I am not sure what the reasoning is? I was happy to give my babies another 12 months cos I am a softy, LOL! No detrimental effects though........
