I know this is a bit of a stupid question, but with the warmer weather coming sooner rather than later I need to find something that works.
I use Dove deoderant stick ( the white paste stick ) and have used it for ages, but lately, even when it was cooler I just seem to leave a huge wet puddle on everything that I wear within minutes of putting it on. Apart from stinking to high heaven, it isn't a good look..
When DS was newborn I used a Crystal Stick which is basically just a huge chunk of salt shaped into something the size of a roll on deodorant. I didn't want my baby to be feeding (breast feeding) with the strong smell of something chemically nearby. Imagine trying to eat a meal in a room heavily sprayed with deodorant? Ugh! But now that he is older I use a combination of a fragrance fee (Mum brand) and Eden Organics deodorant which is free of man made chemicals. I also have an Avalon Organics lemon scented deodorant lined up when my others run out (which will be soon). All the ones I mentioned have worked well, although I don't sweat heavily. The Crystal Stick is very baby friendly but if I had a social occassion to attend I would boost it with an essential oil for a bit of confidence.
Bathsheba - Where do you buy Eden Organics deoderant? I never even thought of the overpowering smell of deo when bf.
My local chemist has it... and i think Coles stock it now too. It has a fragrance but it's not too strong. It is alcohol and aluminium free too. The ingredients are based on essential oils (grapefruit, lime, ylang ylang to name a few). But I still wouldn't use it with a newborn.... not whilst on a babymoon (the first few weeks where you mainly are at home). I don't like to smell of BO but I think it's important for a very new baby to get to know the smell of it's mum rather than be overwhelmed by a deodorant. They have such extremely sensitive senses of smell, much stronger than ours. If I was a heavy sweater I think I would boost the effect of my crystal stick (salt) with some bicarb soda and talc.
Caro - Ooh my goodness, it sounds good enough to eat.. wow, I didn't think that there was anything like this on this market. Just checked out the site, wowee..Have you tried any of there other products?
LUSH is a good brand, I didn't know they did this product. I loooooved their ginger soap when i had morning sickness but they stopped making it! :( I also like LUSH's ethical/environmental practices.
I just Googled... there is also this which i think i might try!

Aromaco is our cooling, patchouli scented deodorant block based on an infusion of astringent witch hazel and chamomile vinegar. This has pong-bashing bicarb in it too. I have real issues with deodorant, I tend to have to change them all the time, as it is like my body gets used to them and they stop working. I was always a roll on girl, but I have moved across to spray, Rexona Sport for Women is working very well at the moment. Tried a crystal one with no luck what so ever. Will have to check out that Lush one when I get a chance.
Astrid, does the rexona work for sweating? ive never really had a problem with the oder but more the sweating and need a good anti-persperant too.
Seems to so far. Of course if I get way to hot (eg overdressed in a hot room), I can't help but sweat a bit. For normal stuff though and even a basic work out at the gym it seems to work.:
i use rexona hypoallergenic, because i have really sensitive skin, but its really good
I use roll on Rexona mens for when i'm doing back-to-back classes at the gym as womens ones don't seem to cut it. On the weekends though I use Dove. In the UK I used Vaseline Intensive care deo and I loved it, but they don't sell it over here for some reason :(

I use the nivea one, but have also used the rexona aerosol ones (musk I think).
I have the problems where I feel like they stop working too.
And every so ofter I get one that does the white powder thing - any tips on how to avoid that?
I use Mi Essence deodorant. It has no nasties in it. I have an issue with applying chemicals to my skin (or my childrens) and this is free from nasties. It works wonderfully (no smelly pits - something I have an issue with too!), smells great and if you like you can have a fragrance free one. I think it's 9.00 or thereabouts. I buy it from my local organic grocer but I think it's available fairly widely.
Well, I use a roll-on from Aldi. I was sceptical at first becuase I am heavy sweater and get smelly easily too. But I've found it not only effective but cheap too. It has a gentle sweet powdery smell which is in no way offensive.
The roll-on comes in a mauve bottle (there aren't many options at Aldi so it won't be hard to find!) I would recommend it for anyone looking for an effective AND cheap deoderant.
I don't use deodorant very often, only during the hot summer months, as I'm not a very heavy sweater, but when I do, I use Perfect Potion Eros deodorant, which contains patchouli, ylang ylang and lavender essential oils.
