when you need to pray
When you have those times where you need to pray, who do you pray to?
Some say they dont believe in God, so who it is you pray too when you have something terrible happen and you are scared stiff of it getting worse or even losing someone, you suddenly start to panic and of course the natural thing we as humans do is pray, who do you pray to though?

hi soul.
being brought upin no particluar religion and having converted to Catholicism - im still not 100% sure that there is a "GOD" up there.
my mum has always told me to ask the angels for help and guidance, and for htem to ask that particulars persons agnels to be ever more watchful ,that always seems to work for me.
(my mum raised my with angels as our main keepers and helpers not "god")
or you can just throw it out into the universe and ask for help.
hope that helps you...

Well for me I don't see God as a man or even a being. I pray and it is to the Universal Love. I see God as that. An all powerful love. We each have that in us too, I believe it's there to be harnessed. I too ask Angels for help and guidance. I also ask for help from others that have passed over.
I truly believe we are not alone and it doesn't really matter what label you give your God... I know in my deepest sorrows and pains when I have prayed I have felt loved and cared for.
I am not sure we can ever really understand what God/Universe etc is.

I so know what you are talking about.
I was raised in a house that belived in a higher being/s, angels , spirit guides, and so forth too. And I experienced spirit activity very early in life and it was just the norm to me. But I still believe that there is a "God Like" supreme higher being out there. Not in the way like the bible states, which bibe really as there are so many, but not a man like that is expleined in the bibles, more like a higher being that is the one we answer to when we pass. Not answer to in the way of he will judge, more like in the way of to make us see what we did or didnt complete this time round in this life. I like the idea there is a higher force out there and many many of bigger energies that work for this higher being. So I guess a creator .
For me when I need to pray I pray to my main spirit guide as I have seen her and know who she is. And the angels as well.
Hope I didnt lose you lol

When I pray I direct my words, thoughts and feelings to God. I try not to do it just in times of crisis, as I see that's a bit of an unfair relationship (ie just going to Him to ask for things, but not talking to Him in life's other circumstances).
-
MistyFying I agree , and that is to anyone we see as a god to us!Any relationship that is going to be a healthy one needs to be two ways.

Hi Soul,
I have been thinking for a while that it sounds like your belief systems and mine are fairly similar (see my blog for more details).
My DH and I do a general prayer of a night time, whitelighting our family and friends, our house and our pets, and each other. It makes me feel protected and safe, even though it probably sounds like a child's prayer.
When I was working on my spiritual growth, I would often meditate to be in touch with my higher self, and the higher beings helping me.
I would like to go back to that disipline, but at the moment when things are grim I am not beyond sending a prayer to God to help sort things out.
I picked up an angel card and it told me to 'let go and let God.' So I've put all matter of things into the hands of the universe.
Now I've just got to stop worrying about it and let them do their thang

Hehe I chat to God all the time. I'm sure he has a mute button for me, I yapper on about all the thngs going on, choices I'm making, things I've seen going on. In times of crisis it depends on the crisis I guess. I petition Mary (Mother of God) to pray for me in things relating to family and womanly things. In deep personal crisis I pray to Jesus as I see him as the more human side to God who understands the humaness in us all and for the larger things I pray explicitly to God. For strength and guidence I pray for the Holy Spirit to guide me.

Gargy sounds like we are both on the same wave here. Whitelight protection is very important when dealing with the spirit world. They would flock to you I feel.I do the exact samething of a night as well. And I tell yu what is a great little tool goingf off the subject, if you dont already know........is when you are in a shopping mall and it is totally packed out and you are dodgig people left right and center and they are just banging into you. You visualize that whitelight all around you, as if you are in a bubble of pure white light, and keep this visualization as you are walking through the crowd and you will be amazed how people start to move away from you and actually avoiding you, its great!! They get re-bounded of your aura as you put this bubble around you. I teach my kids this and my teenage son says it works a treat when he is in a rush and just wants to get in and out of the crowds.
saram that is great you feel so intouch with your beliefs, its a wonderful feeling knowing we are looked after isnt it!
OK back to topic......

Hey Soul,
I know this is off topic but...
A friend of mine also told me to put the bubble of white light around the car too - you'd be amazed how many near misses we've had that should really have been accidents. She said it was like having bubble-wrap on the car!
Also asking for car spots in shopping centres - you'd be amazed how quickly they appear.
In writing about this I've just realised that I'm quite happy for my higher beings or even God to look after the small stuff, but keep trying to wrestle with them in order to worry about the big stuff! One big lesson happening as we speak!!

This may seem daft but i pray to my mum. Everytime i fell pg after a miscarriage i always asked her for that one to be okay and to look after my little angels. I've always turned to my mum when things get bad.
She's been gone now 22yrs.

:hugs: Michelle - that's not daft at all...
